Good morning

Today Eddie looks better (brighter) and i didn't have to coax him to eat anything. He finished his breakfast. Of course yesterday in addition to Convenia he got Mirtazapine and I'm going to give him some tonight, just to be safe. He's now ensconced on his bed (I mean throne) and looks at ease.

It's a stat holiday today so the IM vet will have to call in the prescription for Cabergoline tomorrow. Last night I was having dinner with a friend who is a physician and she told me she has a patient taking Cabergoline and I got quite inspired to see what kind of research is done on humans taking Cab and there's lots, much of it indicated for pituitary tumours. Wow. I also saw an article in PubMed entitled "Brusatol Inhibits Tumor Growth and Increases the Efficacy of Cabergoline against Pituitary Adenomas"

Great news Eddie's feeling better today, and in better numbers.

We did have one member post that she had been in touch with the Royal Vet Clinic (the place to go to on acro research), that they were looking at combining octreotide and cabergoline for treatment of acromegaly several years ago. I found this article, humans not cats: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23291436/ Octreotide by itself was studied at Colorado State University and found not to be effective in cats. If I hunt long enough, I might find that paper.

More important, how is Eddie doing now? Cats are more than their numbers.

Although he did eat, Eddie is keeping mostly to himself and to his bed. I have not seen nor have I found evidence of his using the catbox.

Of course I know he's more than his numbers but I'm also worried about him and the way those numbers tell a story specifically to him and his history. The head-banging emoji is just about me feeling helpless sometimes.
