11/13/18 Texas Gizmo PMPS=118, +3=105, +4.5-123, +11=164

Glad his appy was better, fluids always seem to make them feel better, maybe we should have some lol
Have a greasy day Lizzie and nice blue start

Will do fluids again tonight.

It is cold here. 38° feels like 30°. Suppose to be below freezing tonight. Earliest since 1999!

An oldie but still good :)

Not a bad idea. Especially with Abby and her throwing up. It is less expensive than a trip to ER  I got my first couple of bags/set up from the vet ~$50 each. Then ordered them on line (requires vet rx/approval) and got 4 bags/set ups for $80.

Love ur spy cam , Lizzie :bighug: I’m thinking of digging out an old toy of my son’s that allows you to look around a corner without going in the room so I can check in Elmo without disturbing him :woot: Oh the things we do :joyful::):bighug:

Lol it's called being half asleep
Notice I let it slide??? Wasn't me that gave you a hard time about it - lol :p

I know nothing about being half asleep -:rolleyes: - I had to turn around and go back to the house this morning to make sure I turned off the space heater and coffee pot.:joyful:

Eating update - he ate all but a couple of dots of his +2.5 and ALL of his +4.5 (licked the bowl clean). Poor boy was dehydrated. His body sucked the fluids in within 30 min of giving them last night. There wasn't even a hint of "fluid bulge". Viscous cycle - not eating (no fluids from the wet food) then nausea/feeling icky because he is dehydrated and wont eat.:banghead::banghead:

Forgot to note it last night but I did test for ketones at PMPS 11/12 - meter="Lo".

@Beth 73 I think it was you that said you collect your own urine sample for the vet. Does he give you a cup to put it in to bring it to him? I am going to set up the small litterbox with the sand this evening and use one of the test strips to see what it shows. Poor boy pee'ed outside LB on Sunday (none since) - I think it was because he didn't feel good and also was loopy from the WHOLE canna I gave him. No accidents since. I am just not sure what to do with the collect urine. I wish I had a test tube - that would work perfectly. Hmm - off to look at Amazon.

You can ask your vet for a urine container. I just took Olive's in last week and asked for another to have on hand. This practice calls it a kit (container, syringe for collecting it, pair of gloves). Previous vet uses prescription bottles, he said I could use empty ones as long as they have been washed. Not that I ever did this but once I was told a zip lock baggie was ok as long as it's clean.

If you use baby food, the jar are perfect, put through dishwasher and keep a couple clean ones to use.

If you can't get it to vet within an hour put it in the fridge until you can.

Sending lots of appy vines ur way
Hate this for u guys:bighug::bighug:

Lizzie , I am a very low tech pee collector :) I catch it in a clean spoon then syringe it up into a sterile syringe . Vet is fine with that . Now I’m going to see ab next time getting one of these more proper methods y’all are talking about :)

Thank you very much for the info. How much urine do they require for a regular urinalysis ran through a lab?

sterile syringe
Do you use an insulin syringe? I looked at mine last night and thought to myself - I will be here forever if I use this :joyful:.

This is what I found on Amazon. Will work for the DIY pee sticks I purchased (which I thought came with a pipette to collect with - but it did not).

And Lizzie, thanks again for new food to try . Elmo has been off the duck and is eating Holistic Select chicken and HS turkey . Eager to try your suggestion :bighug:

That's a great picture from your spy cam. I used to have one - notice the past tense there? A certain little kitty who prefers to remain anonymous decided that she really didn't like me spying on her and chewed through the cord. That's after she spend a few days pawing at it.

He also is liking the Meal or No Deal! Chicken & Beef Dinner. It is a bit higher in phos but 0.7% carb! They have Xanthan Gum and Locust Bean Gum so if sensitive to the "gums" it won't be good but so far no tummy upset or diarrhea with Gizmo.

He ate 30 grams of the Laugh out Loud at PS. Licked the bowl clean in record time! :bighug:

If you try it, please let me know how Elmo likes them.

Yay for eating!
One of my kitty loving co workers told me that joke the other day, first time I had heard it. I think it’s very funny. Can so see a kitty doing that.
It was 30 here this morning, 23 with the wind chill. I had to break ice on the waters for the outside animals.

The guys at work said we had snow flurries. I didn't see them. It is cold here tonight. We pulled out baked potato soup from the freezer for dinner. Good cold weather dinner.

One of our trucks from the company I work for was in Beaumont today, said it was sleeting and snowing. Our moisture ended yesterday so we just have mud and cold.
The soup sounds wonderful!
