Asteel, I am unable to open your spread sheet due to the size of it, therefore unable to give you any comment. Dont know if you can get help on that.
How many testing are you doing every cycle? If you want to have advice, please note that in your topic line.

I was able to open the spreadsheet.

She is doing well on this dose. Hopefully she'll get more numbers like she did yesterday as she had the same AMPS.

I was going to PM you yesterday and didn't, to say that I hope you will keep posting here regularly, and not disappear for years or whatever it was this last time, and that you never go back to not testing at PSs like you were doing with the 4 units nailbite_smile

The minimum you want to test is before every shot of insulin and at least one test around nadir, per cycle.
If she is going down fast, you need to test more often. If she is having low numbers (below 60) you need to test more often.

I hope you will stick around Lantus Land for awhile.

Don't worry Dyana I won't be going anywhere,, I was really busy with my job and school at the same time I was testing PSs most of the time, I have 3 books full of her numbers, but It's so difficult for me now to fill her SS with all the numbers. But you are right I should have join her for advice regularly as I'm not an expert and kept on giving her high doses for sometime. I was even surprise with her low numbers lately for PSs of 180 to 144 starting almost 6 months ago, but I kept giving 4 :oops: nailbite_smile

anyway .. I was just asking for the sake of her ear .. its really sore and red ! so I was asking about nadir and the +3 +6 +9 perhaps ??

Her poor ear.... A couple of things, are you using any ointment on her ear? Many here use noesporin with pain relief, just a little dab before a poke will help the blood bead up, and provide a little pain relief at the same time. Also. After the poke, are you applying a little gentle pressure? This helps to stop the bleeding, and also helps with bruising.

I use Alfacort for fast healing .. but still so many test over each other is too much, even my mum was telling me the poor kitty you are testing to much, I wish there was another place to take blood from but that's the only choice :( hope she's stable so I can reduce so less pain less stress for her .. she had enough with the cut in her stomach ..

Dyana ,, I didnt use the painkiller, I don't think she needs more. and yea I called everywhere yesterday asking for painkiller, they said they're not allowed to give sell any medication without prescription. anyway thank god its over now. I really got pissed off.

I dont test as much on Rosy too :oops: You can check on my Rosy's SS. But when kitties are not stable, like Noni dip at +3, you got to test.
As for the testing. I managed to get a Neosporin from a friend coming back to HK from the States. It does help to numb the pain after the poking. Try to poke around the outer edge of the ear, do alternate ear, warm up the ear before poking helps the blood flow and you dont have to knead or squeeze for blood helps too.
I always apply pressure after the poke. Are you using the lancet or doing it free handed?
Whenever Rosy's in a bounce after hitting low, I do less poking that cycle.

I use a small plastic bottle with warm water and just use it on the ear to warm it up, as seem on youtube. I will check for Neosporin and ask my brother to bring it from Canada if he's coming on X-mass. hopefully.

I think with all the stress and medication and the operation Noni is not stable, hope after that she's back to regular.

Hi Aseel. Glad to see Noni is recovering from her surgery. Our FC didn't like to have anything warm on his ear. What finally worked is a modified sock with rice. We cut off about the bottom 3" of the toe of a sock. My wife sewed three sides then we filled it with rice and sewed the top shut. We warm it in the microwave. It's small and fits the inside of his ear nicely.

oh that's really good, but I don't have the heart to cut the toe :S I get dizzy when I see block ! I don't know how I'm holding up, didn't know that I'd do that one day in my life!! I guess Noni is teaching me a lesson in life hahah :lol:

Noni doesn't like the warm bottle sometimes too .. but shes used to it I think

Oh shes doing just fine .. I'm so happy that's she was able to use her litter box today too I was waiting on her for 4 days .. Thank you for passing by to her Condo.

In Canada, Neosporin has a different name. Tell your brother to look for Polysporin with Heal-Fast Formula, the gel type. I get the version called Polysporin Complete which has pain relief.

You can buy Polysporin off the shelf(no prescription) at Shoppers, Walmart.. anywhere with a pharmacy section

I'm glad you didn't have to use the Metacam, and I'm glad she used the litter box finally.

No, I dont think it's too much in an hr. Did you give any food to raise that +4.5 bg?
If that's the bg of Rosy, I'll test in +6, but I know Rosy's pattern. Her PM nadir is usualy arounfd +6. Have you try to understand Noni's trend?

Yes she had a small Whiskes meal . I think Noni is +6 as well. although she drops quickly at the first few hours.

One other thing I do that helps Gracies ears is I bought a pkg. of baby washcloths and when I get ready to test, I run it under cool water. As soon as I am done with the poking, I immediately put pressure on the poke site with the cool washcloth. I then put on the Neosporin ointment. I use Ledum to help with the punctures. And alternate ears.

I'm glad she is doing better! Ouch on that incision.

Hi Karen Noni and I doing just great, hope your doing well too..

don't think it's sore. It's the color of the Betadine Solution (brown) that colors the skin, but It can be raised with water, it will immediately removed.

Hope all this will be behind soon.
