Eddie not eating again. Seems dehydrated, too. Probably going to head over to the emerg clinic as this seems very much like what happened on August 1-3, where he ended up in emerg with high BG numbers and needed to be on constant rate infusion insulin.

Damn.

I know this might be read as NDW but the high numbers have been going on too long. When he went in before his numbers were not even as high (see spreadsheet).

When's the last time you gave fluids? I don't see anything in the last week on the SS. It could be he is dehydrated. Good luck at the vet.:bighug::bighug:

Not shown on the spreadsheet so hard to compare. I also noted vet visits on the spreadsheet. I've seen some cats here get pancreatitis flairs from vet visits, so worth tracking.

He got 100ml sub-q on November 9th. I've updated SS.

The last time this happened (high numbers, dehydration, not eating) was August 1. He went to vet, came home and I had to bring him back where he received that infusion treatment.
Eddie is at the clinic now and getting hydration. His BG at AM +2 (taken at clinic) 378, a drop but probably due to the fact he didn't eat as much and had full dose (17u). I spoke with vet and they will test again and keep him in the quiet room (they are very familiar with what makes Eddie comfortable). He's getting hydrated and a plan will be developed. It's triage-time right now as they had 4 critical situations including the death of someone's poor dog hit by a car. So sad.

The IM vet is drawing up a prescription for Cabergoline and will call it in tomrrow.
 
Just called clinic. Eddie is still "resting comfortably" meaning that because it's an emergency clinic he doesn't rate high on the triage meter. I'm told, though, I'll get a call asap. I've reminded them of the episode of August 1-3 and told them I'm also concerned about pancreatitis. Everyone knows the drill but the front desk isn't much help.
 
Eddie home at AM +11. PMPS 382. He's been hydrated, given injection Cerenia and Mirtazapine (ear). Vet wants to try him at home. Oh and they rechecked for ketones: 0.1

Interested in food and ate 3/4 meal and took his medications. Was able to give him insulin. The vet had agreed, if Eddie wouldn't eat, I'd bring him back. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I have Mirtazapine at home and will use it necessary tomorrow. Time will tell.

One really odd thing: when I was on the phone with the vet she was telling me about her examination and one thing she said was "his teeth look great!" I said "great?" and she said, "Yes of the teeth he still has and at his age!" and I said, "You didn't note any resorptive lesions? It's been said that Eddie really is in serious need of a dental specialist" and I told her about his sedation issues.

Go figure.

So glad Eddie is home and ate for you Jodey. Prayers for him feeling better. And that’s nuts about his teeth.
