Good Morning, Everyone,

It's Veterans' Day, Remembrance Day, and, as we still call it in our family, Armistice Day. My father and my uncles were World War I vets (navy and army: my dad was navy, but hadn't yet been deployed on a ship when the Armistice was signed; his brother was a motorcycle dispatch rider on the Western Front, and my mother's brother was in the trenches on the Western Front ). My parents used to tell us about the great celebration in New York City when news of the Armistice arrived. Well, I guess this is OT, but I like to remember them all on a day that had great significance for them--the end of the "war to end all wars". Hmm. When I was a kid there were Civil War vets still living. Now, I don't believe any World War I vets are alive, and the World War II vets, my big brother included, are all getting on in years!.

Rusty was pretty low (52 at +4.5) when we went to bed last night. I set an alarm and tested him at +8 (102). I'm not really sure what he did in between the 52 and the 102, but he slept all night with us, as he always does. This morning might be part of a bounce. Rusty enjoyed his breakfast in 2 sittings and is now wanting to go outside. The sun is shining, it is 30 degrees, but he didn't get to go out all day yesterday, so we'll take a stroll around the yard now. Back later.

I hear that the Full Beaver Moon Party was a great success. More later.

Re: 11/11 Rusty AMPS 137

Hi guys .. I think it's really nice to take a moment and remember all our vets, and what they have done for us .. Rusty, are you bouncing this morning? If so, it's not a bad bounce .. but let's see if rusty can bring it back to some solid greens for you .. It will be nice for him I'm sure to get outside ... hope your colds have fully "left the building!" and you guys have a great weekend!

Re: 11/11 Rusty AMPS 137, +5.5 176

It does indeed look like a bounce from the low numbers we saw in the latter part of yesterday. Rusty and I went out to look for squirrels (they were in abundance). I had a hard time getting him to come in, even when it began to snow (only flurries).

Re: 11/11 Rusty AMPS 137, +5.5 176

Hi Ella,

It's lovely to see more Rusty-like numbers on his SS! I hope the bounce clears quickly and he gets back to the greens.

I was listening to a program on public radio this morning about WWI, with veterans of that war sharing their personal memories. One of them was 112! I'm not sure if any of them are still alive, but it's wonderful that someone took the time preserve their experiences for the future. Yes, it's OT, but worthy of mention, lest we forget the significance of the holiday....

Brrrr....it's getting cold, I bet it won't be long before we see some more snow. Have a great day!

Bouncing is normal for the rest of us to deal with, Rusty should clear this soon.

It seems, to be a quiet day, a good day for Remembrance.

Hi again,
It's snowing now and the ground is white. I took this picture of Rusty hunting before the snow, when his camouflage was really effective.

What a great picture of your beautiful boy. He certainly does blend in. Hope you are feeling better and Edward too. Good luck with the snow. We are to go into the 40s tonight and it feels so good after all the 90+s.

something about the pictures you take, Ella...is so very poignant.
I was always fascinated by Stu's avatar picture, and that Rusty pic is evocative.

And I'm in agreement on the importance of this day!
Each of my uncles, my father, and my stepfather served in WWII...
and my stepfather's secretary was actually General Patton's secretary during that conflict!

True respect and gratitude to those who serve so selflessly....
I think that many of my generation have little concept of the sacrifice involved.

Glad to see Rusty is already clearing the bounce.

I love your condo today....so important to remember those that serve. I appreciate every word you wrote and your relatives' service to our country.

Love the Rusty pic.....he's incognito as a leaf!! He seems so happy! What a lucky, lucky boy.

Thanks so much for your thoughts on our condo today. You are one who knows what a long road it has been and this is our very first glimmer of "hope". I am scared to death I'll mess it up....

Hi Ella, yes that's what today is for is a remembrance of all our Veterans.
I love the pic of Rusty, and I also like some snow, just not the cold that goes along with it.

WOW - i thought I had visited you today... know I read it, but alas,... no post! shesshh!

I love Rusty's pic - way too cute. good camouflage too!

and I agree - nice condo - it is important to remember those that served.

have a great night - if you are still up. sorry I am so late....

What a gorgeous boy Rusty is!! I don't think I've ever seen a shot of him from that angle... his coloring is stunning!! It's great to check in and see that Rusty is back to more Rusty-like numbers!! Must be such a relief for you!

Indeed, the chickens were all for me! A couple of years ago, I gave up conventionally produced meat as a new year's resolution, and after seeing a profound impact on my lab work, I decided to stick with it. These aren't the best chickens... but alas, at this point the $15 locally grown truly free-range chickens just aren't really in my budget, so the WFM ones will have to do! Your gypsy soup sounds divine... I'll definitely be trying that combination! My soup of the week was made with roasted butternut squash and red onions mixed in with farro, black beans and beef broth with some kale for color, and seasoned with chile powder, cardamom, cinammon, cayenne and star anise. It was a total experiment, and I have to say I was really delighted at how warm and comforting it turned out. Think I'll be freezing some as the batch was HUGE!

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for posting that there was a pic in your subject line. I haven't been able to be on much and I've been skimming subjects mainly for those that need hugs. Pictures of your guys lovely kitties refill my heart. I love seeing them so much. This picture is amazing - frameable. Thank you so much for sharing it.
