Sharing some new information. ReliOn has a new meter. It is the ReliOn Prime. The best part is strips are 50 for $9.00. ReliOn meter have an excellent Consumer Reports rating. I currently pay $36.00 for 100 strips. This is 1/2 the cost.

I wish we could get these here. Cheapest I can get in Canada is $50 for 100 and thats on ebay.

That's a good Idea, let me check them on ebay ! although all medication is not allowed to be shipped and enter the country. hope they don't categorize the strips as medication

I actually use this meter and it has been great so far! I get the strips online to be sure I'm never short handed :thumbup

Is it true that there is no beep sound when you wick the blood? I really rely on that because I have terrible lighting conditions in my test zone.

The Relion Prime has been available for at least a few months now. It uses a slightly larger 0.5 ul drop of blood than the 0.3 ul needed by the Micro or Confirm.

Hi, I use the Relion Confirm as my backup meter. Do you happen to know if it uses the same strips?

No, the Prime test strips only work with the Prime meter: http://www.relion.com/content/diabe...testing/instructions/7957-00 Prime Manual.pdf see page 13.

The Confirm meter only uses Confirm test strips or Micro test strips: http://www.relion.com/information/faq-relion_confirm.asp

It beeps.

Thanks Squeem for the info on the Relion Prime and Relion Confirm using different strips. Thanks also on the great links explaining the two meters.

Ok, that's one beep and one not beep. So which is it ;-)
Maybe there is a setting where it has to be enabled first?

Ok, here's the low down...

The Relion Prime DOES NOT beep.

Also, American Diabetes Wholesale sells the Glucocard meters which are the generic brand of the Relion meters .
Glucocard 01 = Relion Confirm
Glucocard 01 Mini = Relion Mini
Glucocard Vital = Relion Prime

The strips for the Glucocard meters fit the Relion meters. The Glucocard 01 and Glucocard 01 Mini strips fit the Relion Confirm and Mini meters. The Glucocard strips for these two meters are cheaper through ADW. It costs $70 for five boxes of 50 strips ($14 a box) versus $20 for a box of 50 at Walmart.

The Glucocard Vital strips fit the Relion Prime meter. However, the cost of the strips is actually CHEAPER at Walmart than at ADW. They're still extremely cheap ($45 for five boxes of 50 = $9.20 a box), but you can get them for $9 a box at Walmart, a whopping savings of 20 cents a box!!!

The Glucocard Vital meter doesn't beep either and it took me a while to get used to it because I relied on that beep to tell me I had enough blood on the strip. I do waste a few more strips with this meter (it takes a bit more blood and it wicks up the strip a little slower), but the cost savings is still terrific. Hope this info helps!!
