We have a decent start for Mannie today - a 240. I'd hoped for blue, but this is so much better than yesterday morning, that I will not complain. It was nice to see Mannie have a great green surf last night. I hope for a repeat today.... :-D

Mannie decided to go MIA for the last few tests last night  ... One looks in all the usual places - no cat. nailbite_smile I finally found him - laying on my pillow, ready for some shut-eye: for the bean that is. When I went to pick him up he meowed, and meowed. When I actually picked him up I was greeted with a very pronounced and audible sigh. The message was clear: nooooo - you are supposed to go to bed, not come at me, again, with one of those pokies things. I really had to laugh: this was repeated for 5 tests. after the last test when I told him we were done for the night he looked at me, meowed, wagged what little he has of a tail, and went to sleep on his nanner pile. mission accomplished says the cat.   for this morning - all is normal in Mannieland: breffis = yum! (though he is back in remedial feeder school), nanners chewed and slept on.

Have a great Fursday everyone! I am off on a few hours to take Mannie's civvie sister to the vet. She has developed a sore on her rear leg that I would like them to look at. I hope it is no big deal.... :?

Hey LL buddies - we need a chillaxin' day - you guys in? And think of my civvie sister today. Elsa has to go to the vet. She gets so scared there. I've told her it will be OK, but she's sooooo nervous. See you guys later! ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255

Morning guys! That was a nice string of green last night mannie, I hope you do some more of the same today ... I will also be thinking of your sister when she goes to the vet ... our girls HATE going to the vet so I understand ... have a great day guys!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255

Thanks guys - on Elsa. I hope it isn't anything to worry about... she's been favoring this leg for a while now - I've looked at it over and over again, never could find anything wrong. I thought she'd pulled a muscle way back, was just slow on full recovery. Who knows... Guess we shall see what the vet says..... I HATE taking her - she gets so upset. :?

So yes (!!!) on hoping for a repeat of last night. More of those types of cycles, and less of the ones he's been having of late. Dosecrease still looming Mannie.... maybe....

Hi Pat - oh I love the bed thing - he did this a few weeks back, again last night. It was so too cute, too funny. bean 4, Mannie 1.

Hey Moonie! So yes n the party for Rusty. We hafta have one... It will be so grand. maybe a surprise party? we could be already when he comes to his new home? What'd'ya think? ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255

Nice to see those green numbers last night. It looks like Mannie has left those ugly numbers behind. I hope Elsa's leg is okay - sending healing vines to her. Have a great Fursday, Michelle.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255

Nice numbers last night, Michelle! Too funny, the meowing....I have a civie who protests like that when I make her get off the counter, or table, or wherever else she ends up that's not allowed! So cute, it's hard not to laugh! I hope Mannie comes down nicely from that yellow.

Good luck at the vet with Elsa, I hope the leg is nothing serious.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255

Nice to have a break today, He'll be back down soon.
Mannie, Chillaxin sounds good. Wish we could make our moms do it. confused_cat Does Elsa need a spa treatment after the vetty visit? -- Tess

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211

211 @ +4, well more like +3.75. YAY - slowly we are coming down.... :-D

Hi Laurie -  it was darn funny... he tried so hard...

Hey Ele - me too! think GREEN Mannie. :-D

Hi Ann - oh yes on the break. He agrees too. laid out and nappin' that one!

and thanks on Elsa - off to the vet! oh goodie: more than likely she will protest profusely, and let the vet know how displeased she is. either that, or she will cower and shrink up into the tiniest little ball. either way: sigh.........

Tess - That would so so cool! Elsa is a sweetie, and she is so scared... she always trembles and shakes and is so afraid. My bean hates taking her cuz she gets so upset... a spa treatment would be so cool.... OK then on the chillaxin' - so true on the beans... they can be so scary! See you soon! I think we need to get Moonie too... ~~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211

poor Mannie, having his beauty sleep interrupted.
A great night though for sure.
Sending healing vines to Mannie's sister

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211

Healing vines for Elsa! I hear you on hating to take her in. Shnookie is the same way - he gets SO stressed out, he starts pooping all over the place as soon as he comes out of the carrier (which, by the way, is a big dog kennel, cause he's too big to get into a cat carrier  ) Nice of Mannie to stay yellow for a bit so Elsa can get taken care of. He's such a sweet boy!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211

mannie is looking pretty nice today with that slow drop. I'm hoping right along with you for some greens for today. Liked that green surf yesterday too! Way to go Mannie!!

Hi Mannie! LTNS, buddy! My bean has just been a bunch of busy at work and at home lately. Glad we got to check in with you today, and see that all is going well and that you sister Elsa needs some vines and a spa treatment, which I will gladly help with! Oh, and Ella is getting anew kitty, how awesome! A welcome home party is a good idea....spice sack is filled and ready to go!............Spot

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211

We are sending tons of healing vines to Elsa...poor darling...I'm so sorry she'd gets upset at the vetty. I hope Tess's spa treatment will make her feel all better.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +2 255, +4 211, & OT: granulomas

Hi all! back with Mannie's stuff in a bit - but for all that have been so kind with wishes for Elsa:
prelim Elsa vet report: looks like we may be dealing with a linear granuloma, possible a rodent ulcer - though she is leaning towards the granuloma. so - poor elsa is staying for a while today so they can do a biopsy and see just what is going on there. oh boy... guess i had better go and see if the money tree in the back yard is still dishing it out. and :YMSIGH: once we have that back we will decide upon a course of action. We decided to forgo AB's for the moment until we are sure what we are dealing with. anybody had an experience with granulomas? Sure wish I had clue just what her sensitivity is. :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH:

and ohmygod_smile she was so upset on the trip up there... she buried he face in the crook of my arm, trembled through out the exam. wow. they had to wait to do the biopsy, as she had just eaten, and well no going under until she clears that. I could have brought her back later, but thought - that's even more trips with even more kitty stress, so thought maybe best to let her stay for a few hours... :?

AIYEE!!!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152 & OT: granulomas

and onto Mannie: 152 @ +6 - nice job kitty! we have a slow descend to the blues, and your bean is happy. :-D

Marjorie: so true! I didn't get it... as far as he was concerned I was hopeless.  LOVE THE PHOTO!

Hi Deb! last night was sooooooo nice. Hoping for more today. :-D

Hi Anne - my poor baby! huge upset: she couldn't stop shaking... and then she had to stay. I hope I am forgiven once she gets home.

Thanks Iorwen. :-D

And to all my buddies! Spot - where you been dude! I have missed you! So yeah - picking you up today - we are chillaxin' at the beach. Nice on the spices - we will need them for Rusty's welcoming party. isn't that the best news? I can't wait to meet him. He is so lucky - he will be able to spend time at camp stu! Hey Gracie! The roadster is on its way - gotta get Moonie and Shadow and raja and Spot, and you. Phew !: so many kitties. WOOT! AND YES ON THE KTS - and the spa treatment. My civvie sister sure needs it.... and I am so glad that Tobey can some. See you guys soon! ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152 & OT: granulomas

No help here on the granuloma but we're sending a multitude of vines...pls keep us posted. My vet will give anesthesia after 4 hours w/out food so hopefully it won't be a long wait. Crossing paws!! Great numbers for Mannie. Hey...let me know where you got that money tree....I could plant one here!

Elsa....me get KTS w/chicken soup?? You can't resist my face ..it make you feel better if soup doesn't!

sorry, no experience with granulomas but sending healing vines for Elsa...

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152 & OT: granulomas

Last summer when we put twix on wet cat food, she developed sores on her upper lip. We took her to the vet and they called it a rodent ulcer. We changed the food to a diff. wet food, one without beef or fish (can't remember) and she developed a sore on the bottom lip, dead center. She looked like she had a fat lip! So off to the vet we went and they called it a rodent ulcer as well, but the center of the lip is apparently more common area for them to show up. So we switched her foods once again and she STILL got another rodent ulcer, same place, dead center of her bottom lip. So we put her back on dry cat food and she didn't have any more for the whole winter. We thought our problem was gone, but low and behold another one showed up early this spring. So she went to the vet again and they said it was another rodent ulcer. I asked them why she keeps getting them, and they said it is just another part of the allergies she suffers from (her ears break out in small hard bumps a lot during the winter months) Knock on wood she has not had any ulcers since the last one, however, she did recently break out with some major itching a month back or so. The vet said at that point she suffered from feline acne, and thats why her chin was so tore up. Not sure what to believe, but they put her on clavamox and that calmed down her itching big time. She does however had two scabs on her cheek, just under her lip. Each one I would say is about the size of an eraser tip. Sorry this is so long but ... well I don't know how to tell a short story!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152 & OT: granulomas

Michelle, I don't have any experience w/granulomas....Sending lots and lots of healing vines for Elsa.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152 & OT: granulomas

No knowledge of it here either Michelle...I am sure you will be forgiven. (just how long it will take I cannot say...) :YMSIGH: But rather than the back and forth trips, it is better that she stayed there. Ha. that's you and me talking...I think she has her own opinion about it....poor little cutie. I hope she will be okay soon...
We all know that she will be happy to get home...sending healing vines to sweet Elsa...... :YMHUG:

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Hi Michelle, Sorry I don't know what granulomas are, but I sure hope Elsa will be fine. Sending lots of healing vines, and also calming thoughts for her. I hope that she'll be home soon this afternoon and that the money tree will keep its leaves!
It's good that the KTS is going to take her some of that fabulous soup.

Mannie: it's neat that all the kitties are planning a welcome party for Rusty. As soon as his travel arrangements are made we'll have a better idea of when he will arrive (probably the week after Thanksgiving).

Many hugs to you all, and a special one for Elsa,

Ella

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

182 @ +9. Well at least we are still blue. :-D

And thanks all in regards to Elsa. I wish they'd call.... still waiting.... i hate waiting.... Wish i hadn't fed her then I wouldn't be waiting..... did I mention that I hate waiting..... :YMSIGH:

Hi Ella! oh please on the $$$ tree.   and thanks! This is a new one for me... a learning experience that is for sure. I will be glad when she is home. I am always uneasy when they have to put them under. I guess this is a mild form of that - as it's a very easy to do biopsy, but they need to be out for it. aiyeee..... i hate this waiting....

Miss Ella? I have a big circle now on my calendar for Rusty's arrival - the week after Thanksgiving. I am so excited - all us kitties want to welcome him in grand kitty style. It will so fun - I hope he will like us. A grand welcoming party! Thank you for being such a great bean and helping another FD kitty. We lubs you! ~~ Mannie

Thanks Devon! no not too long - :-D I remember you going through the rodent ulcers with Twix. And yeah I have heard that they can re-occur. The vet said that this may be what it is - though this one is one her rear leg, though I have read they can occur there too. I guess we shall see what they say. at any rate she is sensitive too, maybe even allergic too, something - big question as to what.... omg! how does on determine that? i hate not knowing how to fix something.... so we either have a rodent ulcer, or a granuloma - guess there is a difference, thought I haven't a clue what. aarrgghhhhhhh!

:-D Pat - she will either forgive me because she is so glad to be home, or i will be in the doggie house for a while. poor little thing. so so scared.

Tobey - miss sister Elsa will lubs you! You have to come!!! you are just too cute. Well my bean says that, us guys don't tell other guys that they are cute, ya know? ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Hi Michelle, I have nothing of interest to say, just waiting for your results, with you.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Quatro.....

Miss Elsa...me Tobey wants to give you big :YMHUG: and purr....I gots the bestest!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Elsa update:

Thanks everyone for your concern over my little girl. She's home, and darn glad to be here. It always makes me laugh when you open the door to their carrier, they bolt out of it (since when did they ever move so fast?), spend the next 10 minutes running a warp speed checking every nook and cranny of the house.

so now we wait on the results from the pathologist, which should be back in 5 days. 5 days? does it really take that long? guess so. so still no conclusive diagnosis: granuloma, rodent ulcer, whatever??? poor little baby - no outside until the site of the biopsy heals, no scratching etc... the scratching should be interesting - if she does I have to put on one of those darn collar things. well i hope she behaves herself - we shall see. :? she does not do well with those collars, I am really hoping that don't have to use it.

there is one little thing however.... they gave her an antibiotic without consulting me. Convenia. I don't know whether to cry now, or cry later. I wish they would have asked - i would have said no, anything but Convenia. I thought i had asked them to put that on my charts ... I know that this AB was created for these type of wounds/sores/etc, but dammit. So now we play the waiting game on that "stuff' to see if she has any adverse reaction to it. I had thought we were going to discuss this when I picked her up. upset is a mild summation. angry(2)_cat I really like my vet - she is good at what she does... but. dammit anyways.

Hey guys!! My Elsa REALLY needs a spa treatment - she is full of that vetty smell... OH! And Sue had a dental today - maybe we need to visit him too. see you! ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

I had a cat that had granuloma on her tail once, but it was so long ago I don't remember what we did to treat it. I do remember that it did go away. Here's a wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eosinophilic_granuloma I would be mad too about the Convenia, but there's nothing you can do now. And as you said, it is supposed to be used for skin conditions. I'm sending healing vines to Elsa - I hope it clears up quickly and no side effects of the ab.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Hi Ele - thanks so much for the info - very much appreciated. I guess we wait until they get there pathology results, and then go from there. and yes - I'm a little mad at them on the convenia, but not too much I can do now, short of keep an eye on her. and repeating my instructions to them. :YMSIGH:

Elsa is so glad to be home - one happy kitty - once she got through the crazy run through the house. We just had a 15 minute arm cuddle session - something she does not normally do. soooooo nice! :-D

Mannie stuff in a minute or two.... pmps!: I can hardly wait! :-D

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Oh poor Elsa!! Eosinphilic granuloma is in the groups of inflammatory diseases..causing lesions which can be caused by a food allergy, insect allergy, etc and
AB's are prescribed--They do help & we hope that even though she got the Covenia, hopefully it will cure her outbreak! How do we know this? they thought that's was what Moonie had before dx of feline acne..Paws & fingers crossed for dear sweet Elsa-love the arm cuddles, they only do that with me when they are on the vet's table
Hugs to their tireless Momma bean who goes way over the mark to care for her furbabies!! Michelle you are really the best!!

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Michelle, sorry you have to wait so long for pathology results. That's always hard. How sweet on the cuddles. Elsa thinks you saved her from the big bad vet. :-D
Checkerss also shoots out of the carrier, and checks out, and marks everything he can rub his cheeks on. :-D
I though he was unique.

Re: 11/11 Mannie AMPS 240, +6 152, +9 182, & OT: granulomas

Sending everything will be fine vines to Sweet Elsa. Poor baby. Give her lots of love. I bet she appreciates home, more now.

Re: 11/11 Mannie PMPS 190, & OT: granulomas

Glad Elsa is home safe and sound but I would be furious too about the Convenia....that is the AB that put Gracie into anaphylactic shock but it happened within
5 mins of us leaving the clinic....after that, she had no problems with it but her chart says in big red letters "NO CONVENIA OR STEROIDS". But you shouldn't have
to go to that length and I would think a vet should know to consult you before they did something like that. Positive vines that this is only an allergy and that she
recuperates quickly and doesn't scratch the site!!

Great PMPS for Mannie...you gonna be busy tonight   Thanks for checking in on our girl. We are holding our breath to see what PMPS she has tonight!

Re: 11/11 Mannie PMPS 190, & OT: granulomas

Hi Michelle, We're thinking good thoughts for Elsa. Wow on the Convenia! You will have to have a talk with your vet so that she doesn't simply give a medication without consulting you beforehand.
Sorry you have to wait 5 whole days. Try not to over-worry!! (just do "normal" worry!)

Ella

Re: 11/11 Mannie PMPS 190, & OT: granulomas

190 @ pmps. BLUE!, and not too much higher that his +9. :-D Dinner tonight was SophistaCat Mariner's Catch. It must have been really good - 15 minutes after and he is still washing his face. yummy stuff...

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and healing vines for my little one. She has finally settled down after dinner, for a much needed nap. Poor baby - the ordeal! I have to laugh - both Mannie and the other civvie Blackjack have made repeated trips to check her out - sniffs galore. The dreaded vetty smell... :o

Thank you Sienne for talking the time, and for the link. The info is indeed helpful. I have some reading to do! I would like to be informed when the pathology report comes in.

Hi Roni! yep - sure looks like that is what she has... from the descriptions and the photos I have seen. How in the world do you figure out what her sensitivity is? We talked some about this when I was at the vets - ruled out a few things... aiyee! the dilemma.... I cannot thank you enough for always being so upbeat and supportive.

Hi Barb - I know! I don't always wait so well. I know I have no choice, but darn it - errrrrrr! Funny isn't it when they do that. You will have to tell Checkers that he has a soul mate.

Hey Dyana! Thanks! That arm cuddle was really cool - she indeed appreciates those that care for her, love her. She snuggled, and kept watching my face. She has such expressive eyes - it didn't take much to figure what she was thinking. a very nice time.

thanks everybody! What a day....

And thanks KTS for coming to care for my sister - she is so much better now, and I am happy. she was so scared, and I was so worried about her. She really likes the spa stuff, and Tobey - Elsa says you are really cute. ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/11 Mannie PMPS 190, & OT: granulomas

Hi Marjorie and Ella - I seemed to have missed your posts... yeah, not a big fan of Convenia - we will have another discussion with them on the subject. I just wish they would have said they were going to go ahead with an AB ( I thought we would discuss that when I went to get her)- I would have mentioned it then, even thought it is supposed to be in her chart. aiyee!

Thanks Ella - I will try... just the normal stuff. :-D

Hi Marjorie - i hope it's just an allergy - that is the general thought. paws crossed! I have no idea how to figure out what she is allergic too - guess we will deal with that once we know for sure...

Re: 11/11 Mannie PMPS 190, +2 196, +4 146

Way to go Mannie!!!

Michelle...I got to thinking...two things:
1. We had a very specific blood test done for Teddi and got this very in-depth report on things she was allergic to because she
kept getting ugly feline acne..turns out it was things that were in some of her food...we made the changes and she's not had any
more problems
2. You could google "nutrition response testing" and see if there are any vets in your area that do it; that is what we've been
using for all four cats here and it has been nothing short of amazing. They could easily tell which foods she has problems with
or anything else in her environment...we hauled in water samples, detergents, my home-made cleaning products, etc. And
it is not that expensive here...the initial appt and follow up were $110 which included both visits and a detailed report.

Thanks for reassuring us on the numbers. I don't think trying to give all her food to her in PS and +1 will work for her because she can't eat
it all....she is a little girl used to eating small portions at a time. And since I have to be sure she gets her alloted calories, if she's getting
full early on, I can't get her calories in her esp if I can't feed her near/after her nadir. So...we're going to have to spread it back out
to PS +1 +2 at least and perhaps even +3 but that still should really slow her drops if we increase the % carbs of the foods we feed early on.
Whew!! Sorry.

Hope you aren't up too late...Ni Ni for us. (((Elsa))) BTW...Tobey IS irresistible...he said thanks for thinking he's cute. He's working
on a special picture as mascot of the KTS.

121 @ +5.5. nice nice blue cycle Mannie. very nice indeed. cat_pet_icon

Thanks for the info! truly - I will check into it. The more I think about this, and about her BW done back in august there were indicators then that we may have an allergen issues coming into play. So yes - I think I need to do what I can to identify what it could be. I will still wait for the pathology report - see what it has to say too.

yeah - I hear ya on the food thing. Elsa's like that too - It has to be spread out for her, mannie on the other hand can eat anything anytime - that in itself can be an issue... I think when Jill wrote me about cycle front loading we talked about feeding at ps, +1, +2, +3/+4. It made sense to me since you are working to offset the onset on the lantus, which occurs by +2, which reduced the dives. All that you wrote here is true. so many things to consider. I will be curious, after a little time, to see if you feel that eliminating the +9 helps, and lowers the ps. so many here feel you need it. confused_cat

well NI NI, and more tomorrow... I need shut-eye, and am getting to tired to think coherently.
