Hmmmm... I wonder what's up with the AMPS ... Going to test here in a few minutes to see where he is now.

We waited in the car for and hour and a half for the ultra sound app't as they were running late last night. Reuben was calm and sweet for both the wait and the ultra sound. I was in the room holding Roo but I was not allowed to ask any questions. (!) The images will be ready on a disk on Monday and I will take it directly to FedEx and send it to his doctor out of state. There may be a way to send through the internet... there must be... maybe I`ll try to figure that out over the weekend.

I finally finally Finalllly got spirulina, and Reuben is having the liver shake today. He loves it!! and is drinking it out of a dish. He would drink a lot of it I can tell, but I am giving 10ml at a time per the instructions. It seems like very little calories, so I am going to also give him his regular food.

Thank you Marje for the coconut oil for hairballs idea! I'll start giving him some today... he loves it :-)
And thank you Deborah, for the sweet visit after we hit the hay!

Ongoing Medications:
Clavamox 50mg bid (started again today)
Ondansetron .83mg BID
Pepcid 2.5mg bid
Bupe 0.1ml as needed

Re: 11/10 Reuben AMPS 156 (!!)

Hi Alexa,

I know with MRi's they can put it on a disk with a little program that's a viewer and you can send them that way. You would have to send each image plus the program. I imagine an US would be the same thing but he would have had to include the disc in the package he gave you to send. I hope the results are good!

Nice amps! Better watch him closely since he usually drops quickly. He'll probably get low early today. See you later!

Have a great day!

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Hi Alexa, Glad Reuben likes the liver shake. Now that he is eating more steadily I hope his numbers come back down for you. Its great that you got to stay with Reuben for his ultrasound, though not ask any questions? whats up with that? DId the tech know you are in hot pursuit of any and all knowledge that could help Reuben. Before you ship the disk you may want to consider making a copy for yourself in case you want it in future. You may be able to upload the files to a sharing site so the vet can get it faster.
Were you able to get the potassium test run yet? Just wondering about that.
We are going to try Marje's coconut oil for hairballs too, I will tell Jasper and our civvies that Reuben loves it. :-D

Re: 11/10 Reuben AMPS 156 (!!)

Wow - not ask any questions? I agree - get a copy of the disk before you send it. That liver shake sounds popular - I'm going to have to remember that one. Very nice that Reuben is eating, and wanting so much that you are holding him back! Good boy!!!

Thank you Leslie, Melanie and Lisa :YMHUG: I will make sure to get a copy of the images. And I`ll check out the file sharing option...

Indeed, it really was not so great that the sonogram person was not working for me, but for the vet -- who had already decided what he wanted to find. Kwim? I am ignoring that rope and pony show and only dealing with our out-of-state vet, who is a real scientist. No drama, no jumping to conclusions, no ignoring tests and results that don`t agree with an invented diagnosis. I can only hope that the sonogram technician had adequate skills and that the images are valuable.

Reuben is absolutely mad for the liver shake!!! There is a 60ml limit a day on it though... I wonder how strict that is. I also wonder how long the shake can last in the fridge. as the recipe made a LOT! and at 60ml a day it`s going to take a long time to go through it. He had shake and chicken for dinner. He is hungry and will eat those things (and plain liver i`m sure but he`s already having liver...) but he has a real aversion to the food that I was syringing... We need another acceptable food option that does not remind him of the bad vibe 'assist feeding' situation.

I went to a quinceañera party today for a few hours in the afternoon, right after tube feeding Reuben the Friskies TandG - knowing he would fall asleep with a full tummy while I was gone. The food at the party was unbelievably delicious, with delicate flavors worthy of a very expensive restaurant in a big city. These were poor people in a small town making recipes handed down through generations for thousands of years, in the mountains outside of town. I was sent home with a liter of mole which tastes like peaches or apricots, among myriad other flavors. Amaaazing!

I'm glad he's doing better. Wonder if you can freeze the live shake portion that you don't think you can use before it goes bad?

Those are great celebrations!! I LOVE mole but I bet what you had is better than what we get in "authentic" Mexican restaurants here. It's always better homemade and local.

They ki1lled a cow, a pig and a chicken and cooked them in a giant oil can over night, over a fire pit... it was amazing! and the very best pico de gallo I have had in my entire life. I might just have to go back tomorrow and help them 'clean up' jajaja

Ah yes, great idea to freeze the shake!! I can make 10ml (the prescribed dose each time) shake-cicles... it`s probably just about the size of an ice cube I bet!. Glad Mike is there so you can trade ff tonight I-)

I syringed coconut oil just now, for some reason he doesn`t like it right now... it`s supposed to be really helpful for pancreatitis. he relaxed and fell asleep right after... !
