Re: 11/10 Harley PMPS395, +4 41

Harley is having another wild night. PMPS 395, +3 65, +4 42, +4.5 41. I gave about 2 tbsp HC - should I give more?

you could if you want. it's late.
please retest in 15-20 minutes, k?

I went to feed Harley a bit more HC. He jumped off the bed and seemed a bit wobbly. I did feed about 2 more tbsp HC. I will continue to test q 30 minutes.

Pattie

good.
go ahead and put a little karo/syrup in that hc this time.
or rub some karo on his gums.
if he's wobbly, we want to get his numbers up right away. karo should give him a little spike.

Pattie
well, it sure looks like it was tonight. anything different about today or tonight? did he eat less by any chance?

The only difference tonight was how I gave the shot. I did the "tent" thing. Usually I just pull the skin and shoot. I doubt that it would make that much of a difference.

Harley is up to 43. Should I still try more of the HC. Total amount given was about 1/4 cup (maybe a little less). The last one and the karo in it.

Pattie

hmmm. i don't know. better absorption? note it on your ss. the info may come in handy...

just saw your post. i would go ahead and give him more hc to bump him up higher.
it's late and i'm sure you'll want to go to bed sooner rather than later.

43 is much better than 34!

I agree with Jill, don't be afraid to give him a good bit of HC. I do have to give Jazz about 1/2 can each time instead of the 2 tsp. I usually suggest for other people. It might just require more gravy to get past the higher dose of insulin. The rise in numbers from HC won't make the bounce any worse but it might help get him into a better surfing range so you can sleep.

Harley is now 61. He should be ok now-right? I will try and get a couple more tests in. Thanks Jill for your help and support. I don't know if I will ever be calm during these low numbers. I see others post low numbers and are calm about it. I see something below 50 and panic.

Thank you.

Pattie

you'd never know it. you did an awesome job, pattie!
harley's looking good. a couple more tests is a good idea. hope you'll be able to go to bed soon...

Looked quickly at your post! Looks like Harley just decided to dive down and there you were to help him!! also get a little rapid heartbeat at low numbers, but you just do what you got to do!
Great Job...Libby & Jill to help, no worries..Hope you can get him up some more soon!

it's normal to be a little anxious when your cat does something that isn't part of his usual pattern. With Lucy, I was used to low numbers so I just handled them and didn't worry much about it. With Jazzy, she doesn't usually get low so when she starts heading even toward lower blue I have to remind myself to be calm.

If you're able to set an alarm for another test in an hour or two that would be helpful. Sometimes Harley likes to drop later in the cycle so you want to catch that if he hasn't started his bounce yet. Great job tonight.

eta: I like the idea of a couple more tests before bed, if you can. That's better than my idea of trying to wake up again in an hour or two.

I too have been watching your posts, but didn't want to get in the way. awesome job, you were in control, you did help him. very nice job. The low numbers can keep anyone from being calm. nicely done everyone. :-D

Ditto Michelle's comments.....I know when the advisors are working with you and you are focused on those low numbers...you probably don't want posts
from us lookie lous....but you did great. Numbers in the 30's are scary but you got him back up. Good job. Hope you get some rest tonight!!
