Yesterday, Butters had some numbers <100 early in last night's cycle. Were they because of a bounce breaking, or because she was sitting around at the vet's all day, or because she was maybe feeling a little better? Some of each? I am not sure.

Later in last night's cycle she was wandering around seeming restless again. She started today back up in the 300s. Why? Is this a bounce? Is she not feeling as good? Maybe a combo?:) I know that I have to think beyond bounces and whatnot. Hopefully with more experience, I will gain a better understanding of what a change in her numbers might be telling me.:bookworm:

After much thought and deliberation (who needs sleep:p) I made the decision to adjust Butters' pain meds. I am confident that the bupe hasn't been doing the job. The vet agrees she is in pain but then further reduced the amount of bupe I am to give her. That was not helpful. So, I have decided to give Butters 25mg gabapentin and a half-dose of bupe q12. I will be monitoring her, as I always do, and will see what happens over the next few days.

Have a good day, all.

So many things happening make it so hard to know. I agree with all that you wrote. It’s so strange to me that bupe doesn’t work alone for her. But as we know ECID. I still wonder if the dose just isn’t high enough. When my vet was away one time another vet gave Max a low dose and it did nothing. Maybe the combo will work. Hope so.

Hi Lyla, it just breaks my heart to hear she is in pain.
I hope you adjusting the meds will help.
Why the hell would the vet lower the bupe, makes me angry.
Nice blues so far. I hope she will feel better tonight ♥:bighug::bighug:

I kind of think the same: the bupe dose might might be too low for Butters. but I don't have enough to try giving her more or I will run out too quickly. Overall she seemed to be quite comfortable all day, so I think we are off to a good start on the combination of gabapentin and bupe. Paws crossed it continues to work.
Good luck with the pain meds :bighug: And, just checked yours SS - she already sliding down <anti-jinx> Have a great day, Lyla :bighug:
The world according to Butters: what goes down, must come up. I'd be pretty pleased with today's numbers if each one was 100 points lower. That's be nice!! :joyful:
