Yesterday, good morning, not-so-good night.

Yesterday recap:
AMPS: 184
+9: 156
PMPS: 160
+3: 162
+6: 148

Good morning, LL! ☼

Ripley is feeling better this morning than she did last night.
Yesterday started off with a "normal" Ripley ~ you'd never even know she hadn't been feeling well. Bit the afternoon & evening she was back to feeling lethargic and sad. She ate some dinner on her own, but I ended up syringing most of it.

This morning I gave her a tiny crumb of cypro, and she's snacking on her breakfast on her own. I also added a few drops of tuna water to her food, so I'm sure this is helping, too. I may be turning her into a tuna monster. She keeps sniffing in the kitchen, looking for the can of the actual tuna. She want the fish, not just the juice. I may give in if it helps her to eat more. I also may use the tuna to my advantage for future pilling and meds administering. I don't know why I didn't think of it before...

Her numbers are coming down, which may mean her infection is lessening.
She has a vetty appt this afternoon to see how she's responding to the ABs, etc.
I'm so glad I didn't hospitalize her on Tues (as the vet recommended).

Thank you for the visits last night, Amy, Pam, and Mariko.
Pam has given me me newest mantra: baby steps.

Sending vines to all in need today, including to my Ripples.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

These are beautiful baby steps. Very, very nice AMPS - wonderful sign that things are clearing up. Trix has become addicted to having tuna mixed with her fuds, too, but I use the BFF Tuna and Chicken Chuckles. I just put a little bit in, and she does notice (not in a happy way) when I leave it out!

Sending tons of good vetty vines for this afternoon!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O)

I agree with Amy - they are beautiful baby steps. :-D What a nice start this morning, great amps! I have used tuna in the past with Mannie too. It helped jump start things. Baby Food also helped alot - he loved that stuff.

Good luck with the vetty appt today. I hope that goes well. I too am glad that you did not have to hospitalize her too. they do so much better when they are home, if it is manageable for us beans. you did really well with Ripley.

I like your new mantra: baby steps.

Have a good day today. I hope all goes well.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

Thank you for the BFF foods suggestion today ~ do you get your BFF at Petsmart or a specialty store? I don't think I've seen it at my Petco.

I get the BFF foods at my local Ma and Pop high end pet food store. I'm pretty sure PetSmart doesn't have it, and I'm not sure if PetCo does, either. I do think some folks have mail ordered it. If doing that forces you to buy a case, I would be more than happy to send you a couple cans to try out. Just let me know!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

Wow! Pretty numbers Ripley. Such a good girl trying to eat for your mama. Good luck at the appt today. Sending continued vines cat_pet_icon Have a beautiful day Josie!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

I'm glad Ripley is feeling better this morning. Sending prayers for a good report form the vet this afternoon.

I hope all goes well at the vet today Josie and have a great day!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

Nice AMPS today. Glad to hear she is feeling a little bit better today and glad to see a lovely AMPS. Sending continued feel better vines and prayers for Ripley.
Hope all goes well at the vet appt today. Also sending lots of good vetty vines.

Hope you have a great day Josie.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136

Very nice numbers for Miss Ripley, hope it means the infection is coming down. Good luck at the vets!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for the good thoughts ~ they're working :-D

Ripley had a check-up today.
The vet felt her up ( ) and found that she seemed less bothered by his squeezing than she did several days ago. Possibly means less tender, less pain, maybe more healing. :thumbup
There's been no significant weight loss, and her temp is normal.

We are going to start Prednisolone, but just a small amount, for a week. If she doesn't keep improving after that, then I'll bring her back in for a possible ultrasound. Otherwise, if she continues to show improvement then I'll bring her back for b/w and u/s.

Funny: I mentioned that she hasn't pooped since Tues; he felt her again, to see if constipated. He said he felt some hard stool in there, but it isn't a concern. Then she immediately pooped on the exam table. She showed him! (It was a nicely-formed one, too, which was a relief considering her last one was diarrhea. :thumbup )

Despite the vet visit (and that horrid temperature check ~ always her least favorite part, and it seems to make her feel uncomfortable for about 15 mins afterward), she seems to be perkier now than she was earlier. But she of course is resting on her rocking chair, her safe place (or as children call it, "base!").

She isn't anywhere close to 100% yet, but it seems her little old body is trying to get better.
Baby steps.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

I'm glad the vetty visit went well and Ripley is doing better. That's funny on the poo on the exam table. Yay for a good poo.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

I'm glad Ripley is taking steps (even baby ones) in the right direction to health. Poor girl on all that squeezing. Neko also hates the temperature check, especially if it's almost time to go. And good job on her making a statement to vetty. Good luck on starting the pred.

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

Hi Josie,

Super happy about the Poooop.

Rex did the same thing - If the vet does a very thorough examination in that area - BAM!

So glad to hear Ripley is starting to feel better!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

Josie,
I too smile with joy at Ripley's poop  Glad she is feeling better and less tender. I am going to insert a kitty emoticon now to express my happiness for you dancing_cat (I love that thing  ) Have a great night!!

Re: 11/1 Ripley AMPS 136, +7 139, another vetty visit

LOL...gotta love when a sweet little kitty makes a statement! I'm so glad to hear she seems to be less tender and feeling better. I hope she's eating well and squawking up a storm tonight!

Thanks for stopping by and dancing_cat with me.

She had a great rest of the afternoon, and is having a mellow evening (= sleepy).
Her appy is so-so, but she's snacking ~ no need for cypro nor syringe-feeding tonight :-D .

When we gave Ripley her fluids tonight, she acted annoyed and a little squirmy. This was refreshing ~ it's her usual attitude regarding her sub-qs. (The last few nights, she was so weak and 'out of it,' she just laid there and wasn't affected by the fluids, like she didn't even care what was going on.)

Thinking about Bob, Lucy (& Ginger), Furball, J.D., and all others who need vines tonight :YMHUG:

tee-hee...she's like a tube of toothpaste...you just have to squeeze and the poop comes out!    Glad she's feeling better and we will send more healing vines to sweet Ripley! As always, her numbers look lovely, especially with all things considered...infection and vetty visit!!! Have a good evening, Josie!

Hi Josie,
I am glad to hear that Ripley is improving!
That's great you didn't need to syringe-feed her tonight.
She must have felt double-awsome after the poop on the exam table!
Sending continuing vines for her recovery.
