WCR: Yesterday, she gave me a below-50 #, and we had to leave to get the car in the shop. Needless to say, she got a snack to hopefully bring that # back up. It did. By 2 points. I gave it a bit more time, and it finally raised her to above 50. When we got back from dropping the car off, and getting her more Tramadol, she had gone up another 10 points. Just need 2 more below-50 #s to earn another dose reduction to 1.25s.

I think the Tramadol is working to ease her pain. I'll finish off the current dose and let her rest afterwards, and go from there. I picked up 10 day's worth yesterday at the vet's as I won't be able to during the week if she needs more. I'm learning that the pain from the p-titis is causing the #s to go up, and the vet tech agreed when I told/asked her about it. I'm search I've learned that bit of information on here, as well.

Sending tons of healing vines, positive thoughts and prayers to whoever needs them.

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone, including Blackie, to have great #s... For everyone, including Blackie, to be OTJ.

Angela, just have to say again what a great job you're doing with Blackie. She's a lucky little girl to have such an excellent mamabean.

It does appear that the pain med is working. Are you still giving nausea medication too? It appears she is feeling better. Is she eating normals amounts of food as well? All good signs.

Re: 11/09 Blackie AMPS 91 +1 90 +2 57 +3 60

No need for the nausea meds as she hasn't thrown up at all. She is eating several normal smaller amounts of food, complete with 2 tsps. of water with each meal. I don't want to give her too much more water. I did find out that she has missed the box when she wanted to pee. Poo I can handle cleaning up as they're solid, but peeing around the house outside of the box isn't easily as cleanable. With that in mind, I'm very hesitant about doing the sub-q fluids if the need arises because of the peeing outside the box issue. I caught 1 time as I normally put her in the box when she begins her walking-around routines. She pees every 12 hours. I still have the sub-q, and nausea meds just in case though.

Good thing you have the sub-q just in case as I've read there will be a shortage until June 2015 and some companies aren't selling to pet supply places. As long as her appetite is normal I'd agree there isn't nausea. If it slides I would think it is still there. Is the pain medication for the arthritis then? Usually if the p'itis episode is over the pain goes away is why I asked about nausea and pain. I'm glad Blackie feels good.

BTW: Vomiting is not the only symptom of nausea. Max rarely vomits but simply becomes inappetent with an episode.

Re: 11/09 Blackie AMPS 91 +1 90 +2 57 +3 60

I think the vomiting in the past with Blackie had to do with 2 large meals in the morning, and again in the evening, with nothing in between. When she did vomit, it was white foam. Since I've been giving her several mini meals during the day (typically anywhere from 4-5 between 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.), I haven't seen any vomiting at all.

As far as the pain's concerned, I'm not sure if with each new dose, the pancreas reacts in such a way that causes a bit of pain or discomfort for her. As if it was adjusting to the new dose of less insulin, and having to work a bit harder to create more insulin to compensate for the small lack of it given by me. If that makes any sense. It's something to think about. Not sure if it's true, however, it sounds somewhat factual, in a way.
