She's starting to let me touch her a little and still very growly. Has scabs on her head, possibly flea or other allergy. Was given Confortis at vet so that may help. Getting off dry food may help with that too.

She's drinking a fair bit of water; the bowl down there has needed refilling where the other 2 scarcely touched it.

The litterbox in that section isn't totally swamped and will need twice daily cleaning.

And I need to rearrange things down there to make her more accessible and easier to reach! (Thank you for being willing to come over Sunday, Terri!)

BJ,

Thanks for the update. I am still planning on coming over on Sunday and we will see what I can do to help with rearranging or whatever we need to do.

Hurray! How fun to have you posting in PZI, BJ. And bless you for rescuing Gracie. You are the queen of improvision so I am sure you have thought of isolating her in some way until she gets used to the diabetic routine. Please let us know how we can help.

When you catch her, are you thinking one unit with increases as quickly as needed? (I wasn't sure. Was the 400+ a home or vet number?). What kind of food was she eating earlier?

I've managed to pet her a few times, that's it so far. Every time she sees one of the younger cats, she's off in a huff and goes where I can't reach her.

The 400+ was a lab blood glucose at the vet (not a fructosamine). She was eating Kroger brand dry cat food; she is now on the Friskies with everybody else.

The plan is to start with 1 unit. And start her on Clavamox since the blood work suggests there may be an infection.

BJ....you are the best. :-D

Gracie will come around...just take it one day at a time. There isn't a kitty in the world that would not love you. cat_pet_icon

Like we all know here....it does get easier.

Got the Clavamox in via Pill Pocket.
Fresh food taken down for all 3.
Mason is resting up high on a workbench/shelf instead of the floor place behind some cardboard.
Brought Tux up for a bit to help Gracie chill.

And 2 hours later, got 0.6 units of ProZinc in her.

Did that litterbox; its pretty flooded. I probably could have done 1 unit, but I was lucky she let me touch her at all. I smelled like DOG!!! (Rescue transport earlier)
