11/08 Tansi AMPS 108 In hospital, pancreatitis

Hi all
The vet really wanted the ultrasound instead of fpli or the quick one. Anyways clear signs of pancreatitis and inflammation in liver, bowel, intestines. Blood work is normal except white blood cell count.
He is in hospital and not eating so I brought in his faves but still not eating. Vet said they will likely skip insulin tonite but he will get gastro tube later on so morning dose ok. Sub q fluids.
Ran a curve on him there, he was 9 to 12 so clearly stressed, as am I!!!
They want to keep him there one more day at least. Poor guy.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks for all the help. The vet was sure it was a gastro problem initially!

You will need medication for nausea and I understand why they haven’t given either cerenia or ondansetron. The white count is elevated due to inflammation. I’m a little surprised they went right to a tube. I hope he starts eating soon.

Thank you ❤
Will be 12 hours without food shortly?
Thank you for all the info you sent yesterday on pancreatitis, I am going to read everything niw.

Read the most recent one. The recommendation is nausea medication, pain medication, and fluids. It’s suggested you feed small amounts of food often while he recovers. Max had chronic pancreatitis for years. I always kept ondansetron and sometimes cerenia on hand. They might try and give you mirtazapine pills or the ear gel. That’s fine but you need the nausea medication too. Mirtazapine is not enough.

For some reason I can't get into the site. I signed up and then when I get to tge registration part, it asks for what business affiliation or something and I can't go any further?

Sorry about the pancreatitis! Agree with Elise. I asked the vet for extra everything so I could manage at home. SubQ fluids, ondansetron, Cerenia, Mirataz. I also have buprenorphine as well because it can be painful.

I also keep the Gerber baby foods on hand as well for assist feeding (plus I crush the pills and put them in the food for syringing).
