Good morning!

Monday, I'm tired. My neighbor feeds strays and I have 2 kittens running around my shelter. One squeezed in the other night, so we had to reinforce little spaces with chicken wire.

I feel bad for them, but, I am at full capacity and so are the shelters. The feral population here is out of control. I let the neighbor know that there's apparently an unfixed female, so we need to get someone here for TNR or they are gonna have a big problem.

Safe sailing for everyone today!

Morning Deb , I know you must feel bad about the kittens ,but you can only do so much and you are doing an amazing job , I hope you and your neighbor can get someone set up a trap to catch her and have her fixed . Have a nice day Deb :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

@Mikanmama @Diane Tyler's Mom

You're both right, an impossible situation and I am doing alot already by simply being aware, and trying to help the neighbor. At some point I need to learn to say NO. I mean, I have 8 cats because I commandeered the last hoarding situation in my neighborhood, I can't save everyone.
At the end of the day, I know that I didn't create the problem, and can't be responsible.

Thank you for your kind words, it makes me feel better about my decision.:bighug:

I feel like this dose is worse than the last,

Can either of you just take a peek for me? @Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee

I mean, his numbers are still ok.. Is this just a situation where his needs have changed and we just keep going back up until we hit the magic dose again?

Other than a slightly softer than normal number 2 ( formed, just soft) everything else is status quo.

Thanks!

You do have a big heart, Deb, and I understand ... some people are incapable of turning away a cat or other creature in need. That's how my sister ended up caring for 40 street cats in Thailand. She spends all, and I mean ALL of her money on food and vet care. I wouldn't recommend it as a lifestyle, and I don't think she would either, but by now we've accepted that it's just what she has to do, and that she is probably going to have to come back here and move into my guest room some day.

Hi Karen!
If it was one random kitten, I'd probably be proactively trying to capture it and finding a foster, but after I saw kitten #2, and knowing they are feeding (the amount of plates and bowls in their yard is just absurd), I decided that I have to back away.
I have a huge heart and that's why I spent $10k to build cages for rescues. I made that decision over 6 years ago, and these guys are all getting up there in age. I need to make sure I can afford to continue taking care of them, I can't add any more cats for a long while.

At one point there were 14 or 15 total, and that was insane. Like I said, I will help them to help themselves, if that's what they decide. I'm just getting to a point where I have some type of life again, and learning to set boundaries for my own peace.

You have such a big heart, Deb. What a situation going on around you. It’s sooo hard to turn away cats in need.
It’s also what makes you such a great Mom to Sly. He’s so lucky to have you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I don’t think the numbers are worse given meter variance. I do think you have room for an increase.

Thanks for looking Elise,
I was calibrating my meter and had a new one, so I checked that one and the readings were consistent to each meter, even though they were 20 points different. The old one seemed to trend higher on the tests, but honestly I'm speculating on something that can't be proven.... So, cats is the answer!

Thanks Staci!
I have one last chance to try to help the kitties, but I need to snap a picture of the crazy one later. He sits right next to my catio and stares at the cats, they hate it!!!

I agree with Elise, I think you have room to increase. I've seen this happen before, you just have to keep increasing until those nadirs come down and he decides it's too much insulin.
