Yes, Shadow is doing fine on very little insulin. That being said his PMPS BG level was 70, nearly unchanged since his nadir today so I decided not to give him his drop or whatever he is getting. I am not comfortable with giving any amount of insulin to shadow when his numbers are within spitting distance of 50. He will be fine. He is showing more spirit than recently and his coat is looking as good as it ever has.

One change I have made recently is since I haven't been able to be here at around +6, I've been feeding him a 1/4 cup of YoungAgain's Zero Carb dry food at that time with an automatic feeder. He likes the stuff and it has ZERO carbs so maybe that is keeping his BG down. I did this yesterday though and his BG came up 20 so who knows. At PMBG I gave him 1.3 oz of turkey pate.

You will see several people feeding YA..but still controversial and you will not get consensus.
Dry food, aside from the carbs is still not good for cats for many other reasons. Hank fortunately took to the cold turkey switch from dry to canned. But I admittedly still feed 'low-carb' kibble to my civvie- who is a die hard hold out. After 3+ years i finally have him eating a teenie bit of canned (only will lick at FF).
But I do not think I would give it ever to Hank again because I don't want to rock the boat.
Changing his diet to all LC canned changed his life. And his fur became soft and lustrous like Shadows. That is from all the moisture in the food..plus we mix water into each feeding. The dry is just to devoid of moisture. You know you can put canned in the auto-feeder, right? And don't forget catsicles. I use those all the time...can also put those in the auto-feeder.

He hardly seems to skip a beat when you do skip. Even though those tiny amounts won't cause big drops, it can be scary I know. Bottom line you have to do what you are comfortable with. He seems to continue to be very focused on the target regardless. What a good Boy! cat_pet_icon
