D*mn. Accidently locked Spitzer in bathroom overnight. He's dehydrated, inappetent, glucose high and his stomach sounds upset.

Took him to vet for IV fluids and monitoring.

Vet said abdomen feels gurgly, like diarrhea about to happen.

No ketones in urine, though (he peed on table ... it had been all night, after all).

If he has diarrhea either a) its the food or b) I'm really suspicious of triaditis - pancreas, liver, and intestines not working well together.

I've checked with the vet office twice. He was resting comfortably both times, has perked up, and by 3:00 pm he was starting to eat. I'm off work in a few hours and maybe will get to take him home.

Spitzer is staying at vet's tonight, still on IV fluids, still running high glucose.
Dropped off his insulin and some syringes.

I was hoping he could come home tonight. Hopefully tomorrow he will be better.

Keeping you and Spitzer in my thoughts and prayers.

Ditto. Is he at least eating?

He ate some A/D, which is high calorie, though not suitable as a sole source diet for long. Right now, though, any eating is a good thing.

Did they give you a diagnosis? Any of the things you feared?

Carl

No diagnosis, just "ain't doing right"

A real diagnosis is probably going to have to be through biopsy of the liver; right now, I'd say he's too debilitated to have anesthesia.
