Good Morning LL! Tess is feeling better, Thank you for all the healing and good vetty vines. She ate well at PMPS, but refused her later meals. I thought it was the bupe making her loopy, but now we think it was the Clavamox kicking in. The vet recommended 1/4 Pepcid half an hour before the Clavamox, but I'm wondering if that should be before her meal. Also tonight I think we will delay the Clav until an hour after PMPS so she might feel more like eating.

This morning I syringe fed a little over an oz. of Blue Wilderness Duck (mixed 50/50 w/ water). She is not happy w/ me! cat(2)_steam It took 5 syringes and she was totally done w/ it by the end. I will try a little less water in the next batch, but I wanted to be sure to get food in her since she was green. I didn't take a +2 because the syringe feeding process was rather protracted. :roll: Today I'll get more high calorie foods that she doesn't normally eat if we have to keep doing this.

WCR Just 4 Ps and she didn't have a choice on the fuds! :twisted: :roll:

You need to eat your fuds. There is no drama competition today.


I just decided to give up on duck. Too unfamiliar to my cat and she's not impressed at all.
And I guess it's the higher fat that makes it stickier than the other foods. I always have to add some water.

Another 3 syringes down the hatch and no pukus yet! :-D :-D Since the Duck was only 2% we added a little honey to up the carbs a little.

Rhiannon, noe drama indeed! The syringe feeding went better than I expected. We went with the duck because it is one of the higher calorie foods I had that she doesn't normally eat (higher calorie = fewer syringes needed! :? ) I also don't want to syringe foods she likes in case it would make her refuse them in the future.

Angela, thanks for stopping in, unfortunately that green is probably influenced by her skipping half her fuds last night. I decided to start syringe feeding right away this time to keep her from chancing DKA by not eating. Also, now we know there's an infection her BGs should come down and maybe a reduction soon! :-D :-D

Oh I am so sorry! I just finally got back to your condo yesterday and see that they started her on Bupe and Clavamox. That stuff really really messes with Tarragon. I hope Tess handles it ok. Congrats on the syringe feeding. That is a definite no go in my house and I have definitely tried. I just have to hold my breath until we are done with the dreaded C. Tonight thank goodness.

Nice greens today for Tess. Healing vines that she gets to feeling better soon!!!

Paws crossed for Ms Tess feeling better and eating better very soon. We know all to well how stressful poor or no appy can be! Her numbers may be low from not eating as usual, but sure nice to see after those numbers that cannot be named. ;-)

Hi Ann, so sorry Tess is not eating. I may have missed it, but did they confirm the UTI? Sending sweet Tess appy and healing vines. Thanks for the info on the foods in my condo.

YAY!!!! Tess ate her pre-shot meal! Pepcid half an hour before eating is working. So we're delaying the Clavamox for an hour. I don't think that should be a problem, any opinions? We will probably still need to syringe the later mini-meals, but it is such a relief to have her eating at all!

Ann, no definite word on the UTI, but it is a recurring problem for Tess so it is probable and they started her on Abs just in case. I thought that they would call w/ the result of the in-house pos/neg test, but i was out w/ DM most of the day. I'll call tomorrow. In any case if it is positive we won't know what bacteria until the C&S is done, maybe Friday?

Anne, it was such a relief when she stuck her nose in that bowl.

Melissa, this time I wasn't going to struggle for days trying to get her to eat. It isn't that bad to do w/ Tess and I wanted to keep her from becoming dehydrated again.

Oh and she is PLAYING!!!

Woo HOO!!!! She ate her PM meal - it sounds like you have a good plan in place to get the main fuds in her before the clav etc sets in. minimal syringe feeding then. I so hope so. :-D :-D :-D I so remember what an ordeal it was the last time she had an UTI. I wouldn't think it would be an issue with delaying the clav. It's supposed to be given with fuds anyways, isn't it? I like your plan - if only because I do remember what you went through last time. Good luck! and Tess - you be good: eat your fuds!

Hi Ann, I've been absent from class, too (very active holiday weekend with my sister here and all the paddling and loon watching--not to mention the cooking). I hope that Tess will continue to eat her fuds.
