Hi everybody! It's been a while since we did a condo.. sorry!!! things got super hectic around here with us heading to Nationals, and then the trip itself, and then recovering when we got home! Rupert did fabulously whilst we were gone, my pet sitter is a star! All the animals were healthy and happy. Rupert greeted me with a high red number the night we got home but the next day dipped back down to greens during the day.... then he seems to have resumed his normal bouncing/diving routine! sigh! However, he looks fabulous, is BEBT every day, active, zoomy and purry. The trip actually did us good. I had 8 days where I didn't have to worry about FD (although of course I did a little bit! but thank heavens for texting and a very communicative pet sitter!).....and it made me realize completely that it's not about the numbers, it's about the cat. That's probably why I haven't really posted much lately because I've not been quite so stressed about it all! He is doing great, I'm beginning to come to terms with the idea that he's probably never going to go OTJ, or will do so in his own sweet time so I can't MAKE this happen. Also, that he seems to be very comfortable and happy in the numbers that he has so I don't panic nearly as much. My yardstick is the fact that his coat has resumed it's glorious sleek black tuxedo look and he is bossy and happy.

As for Nationals.. well.. Harvey was his usual rather unreliable self, but he did okay, managed a few ribbons but his classes were fairly small and I know he could've done much much better. However... Ro was a SUPERSTAR!!!!! Everyone went crazy for him, he had his own fan club there and everytime we went in for our awards ceremonies (they do all the awards at the end of each day), he had his own cheering section! He loved it, was a saint, and really made me feel so so happy. Stu was very very proud of him although I coudln't convince him to ride him in the last test of the show. What was really cool was Shirley (one of Ro's original breeders/trainers) drove up from California to see him! She just showed up on the Saturday, it was amazing! although.. sigh... seriously pressure on me! Anyway, she was delighted, watched my last test which we aced! and gave me a big hug before she left and said that she was SO SO glad that we had him and she knows that he has the perfect home for life. She's hoping to come up here and visit us sometime this month!

As a result, Harvey is officially for sale.. or at least he won't be shown at the bigger (longer distance to drive) shows anymore because he really stresses and doesn't travel well. Also, he's a great and talented horse but takes a lot of strength and guts to ride, and Ro reminded me of how easy and how fun this can be, so.. poor Harvey.. I really don't enjoy riding him anymore. However, that being said, we've never been very good at selling horses so doubtless I"ll muddle along with him here and do just fine! So, here are a few pix. I don't have any of Harvey with his three ribbons because (seriously!).. he's afraid of them so we can never do ribbon ceremonies with him! Ro loved his, tried to eat them, and I have one good 'professional' shot ordered of us doing our victory pass at a full out big trot with the ribbon flying, way cool!

Hope everyone is doing well in LL, I was sorry to see that Cleo crossed, I don't even know if I ever 'met' her. So sad.
I thnk you can click on these to make them a bit bigger?
Ro wondering if the ribbons are edible

Ro posing by the glorious flower display at the entrance to Idaho Horse Park love that the flowers match his ribbons.

cute close up

the overall haul... of course... no significant prize money.. sigh?!!!!

I was wondering when you would be returning.
I agree with your statement, it's all about the cat but I wouldn't lose hope. Some just take longer to get there.
Glad Rupert is feeling good and looking better.

I am also happy to hear that the pet sitter was a success. I'm getting awful leery since there have been so many negative experiences reported.

Congrats on the ribbons.
Good that you got to focus on something else for a change.

Time to surf, Rupert.

Hello Pip, great to "see" you and Rupert again. Give him some scritches from us. Neko has been missing her west coast diving and bouncing buddy. It looks like Rupert's numbers on this dose are starting to work again and it's good to hear how well he feels. Fabulous photos of Rojo, you must be terribly proud of him. And such a great job you guys have done given that you haven't had him very long at all.

Hi Pip....I'm glad to see you again. :-D Glad also to see Rupert doing so beautifully

Good for you, getting a good petsitter. That has to be a great relief for you. :-D

Congrats on all the yummy looking ribbons, for Ro. :-D He sure is handsome. :-D

I was wondering what happened to you! It's great to see you back.

I love your WCR. It truly is more about the cat than the numbers.

Pip, thanks for the update. I've been wondering how y'all have been. I laughed out loud that Harvey is afraid of his ribbons. Poor guy, he might be glad to stay home if he stresses at the travel. So cool that Rojo did so well, even with his own cheering section! He does seem inordinately proud of his ribbons. :-D And great the Rupert is feeling well and looking good. That is the main thing, quality of life for our kitties. Like Zener said to me, "more petting, less worry". :-D

yay, I was expecting more of a bounce for PMPS, so when I saw the low pink I figured he would still be heading up.. nice to see him back down to blue again already. I had been contemplating upping his dose but having watched him go all over the place with this dose I decided to stick it out for a bit longer, seems it takes him quite a while to settle in to a dose.. anyway... I'm hoping that he'll stick to some blues and yellows for a while. Of course I have to go back to work tomorrow so doubtless he'll do something exciting tonight and keep me up, or something goofy tomorrow and keep me stressing!

He had a great day, spent most of it lounging on the couch because he's miffed... even though the weather has been glorious, we've stored the deck furniture away for the winter so he has no nice chairs to sit on outside! He's stomping around right now because it's time to go and give the horsies their night time snack.. and he's in charge of making sure we find our way to the barn, and more importantly back up to the house! Hope everyone has a great evening!
