She's not eating at all - again. I tried giving her 1/2 a cerenia tablet yesterday - no real improvement. She walked up to her food a few times and sniffed or licked and then walked away. I force fed last night and then this morning I've already force fed an entire small can of max cat kitten food (not all at once, of course). She is very cooperative about the force feeding, which is unusual. Maybe we just have it down pat.

The only thing she will willingly eat are Feline Greenies. I've been giving her 2 greenies as a treat after the force feeding. That perks her up.

She did lick and lick at some food around PM +9 last night (this morning) - so she got a small snack in - maybe a tsp or 2 of food. But at breakfast time - nothing - she just turned her head.

I was up all night coughing - I coughed and cleared my throat so much in my sleep that I apparently hurt my throat, it's very hard to talk today. I often get laryngitis, so I'm really careful about straining my throat like that, but since I woke up coughing violently and half-choking, the damage was already done. Sigh...

I'm sorry to hear that Kasha is not eating, but I'm encouraged that she isn't refusing your forced feeding. I hope you can get enough food in her. Sorry about your sore throat - just when you thought you were getting better. ohmygod_smile Those coughs can last a while. Sending eating & healing vines to Kasha and fell better vines to you, Krys.

Praying that Kasha starts eating today for you. I'm also sending you tons of healing vines for you to get better quickly.

I hope your throat is better real soon...you must have had a broken sleep with all that coughing.
Glad you have having success with the force feeding though...at least you are able to get something into her.
She will take the Greenies though, eh? Maybe another brand of cat food would make her take notice?
Sounds as if she is just not enthused unless it's the junk food...

(((((Krys)))) I am so sorry Kasha is lacking in her appetite again. I agree with Pat~maybe she would try something different? I know what the appetite stimulants are the only thing that keeps my mother in law from not wanting to eat. Before she started with those she would NOT eat. I wonder if it is the same for cats. I am sorry to ask (as I have been away for so long) but are you giving Kasha the appetite stimulants every day?

Still not interested in eating - I force fed 1/2 can of max kitten (1.5 oz?). Not sure why her PS is so high - could be the fact that she ate several greenies today - she got one or 2 after each force feeding.

I've been giving her cyproheptadine twice daily but even that's not helping now. The last time she had this chemo drug she also became inappetant and I had to force feed, so that might be it... Today I switched to give her mirtazapine since that has an anti-nausea effect as well and the oncologist suggested it several times to me - but I ignored it because the cypro was working so well. Now we're going to give it another try.

I can hear her breathing again too - it might be the changes in weather (we went from nice weather - windows open - to nearly a week with the heat on and now back to weather in the 70s and near 80 tomorrow) or something more sinister.

I also put a little pinch of miralax in her food today - there just hasn't been a lot of litter box action from her lately, except for a lot of pee, per usual... If she's somewhat constipated, that could be affecting her appetite as well I'm guessing. Normally I would just try probiotics for a while to regulate her system, but I ran out and the order is due to arrive this week sometime. Unfortunately, the holiday on Monday will delay delivery.

She's acting a little odd - she's on the couch with me now asking for pets (Kasha does not ask for pets). The mirtz might be kicking in...
 
Mirtz will make them very affectionate, and more vocal too. I hope the appetite is stimulated, too.
 
Hi Krys sorry your little girl doesn't feel like eating for you. I know the feeling. It''s the same over at my house right now. I hope the Mirt helps you. That is the appe stimulant we use with Tori. For her it makes her much more vocal and very,very affectionate. I like that side affect. Right now all Tori will touch on her own is the FF Elegant Medleys. They're higher in carbs than I would like but I'd feed her anything right now. Haven't resorted to kibble though. Have you tried those?

Hope your throat feels better. You really need to cop a break here. You and your girl are in my thoughts a lot. Hang in there.
 
Oh yes the Mirtz. The first time my civvie got it for her lack of appetite--oh she was vocal and overly affectionate. I did not know that this was a possible side effect and got soooo worried. It is funny now. Krys I hope it works from Kasha.
