10/9 Chloe - AMPS 103 | PMPS 108 @ 12.75 - ER today for vomiting blood

Well, she didn’t want to wait for an appointment later in the week it seems. We are at the ER since she vomited watery blood twice this afternoon.

ER vet said all vitals looked good. They gave her an anti-nausea shot and sent us home with ulcer meds in case that was what caused the bleeding. I guess just keep an eye on her and go to a specialist if things get worse?

Definitely felt rushed in and out of there. Like they were expecting a diabetes emergency and that’s not what it was so they didn’t do a deep dive. The goodish news is that they have another site a bit further away with specialists and more diagnostic equipment, and if things get worse within 24 hours, that’s still included in tonight’s visit’s charge.

Oh, dear! I'm so sorry to hear that Chloe was vomiting blood! Did they send you home with omeprazole? I was instructed by Ruby's IM to give that to her when I took her to the ER for not eating along with Cerenia. I did it short term, for about two weeks. After I took her off of it she still wasn't eating well so that's when we did the endoscopy. Hope it doesn't come to that for Miss Chloe. :bighug:

I didn’t notice her not eating. She ate this morning, but didn’t graze much. But that’s not abnormal for a weekend, for whatever reason. The shot they gave her was Ondansetron. The ulcer med we have is Sucralfate, which I’m supposed to give as a slurry orally. We’ll see how that goes.

Also looking at my bill just now and they charged $20 to check her glucose :blackeye: Next time I’ll just bring my AlphaTrak.
