Kinda confused about what to do with her. She's on 0.10u right now, and I suppose I could try giving her more, but higher doses seem to cause her to bounce.

Re: 10/8 Sunshine AMPS 363

Okay trying to figure her out as well, Lord knows it took me long enough with Autumn because like Sunny she just didn't dance to any music I was familiar with. So let's run over the same things that I did with Autumn...How are her teeth? If you open her mouth what do her gums look like? Is there any inflammation along the gum line? How does her breath smell. (Not looking for the ketone smell, but infection smell). That was one of the first things that kept tipping me towards infection with Autumn is even after dentals her breath still smelled like a sewer until that tooth finally revealed itself as the problem.

Anything in the way she moves that seems off compared to the other cats? When you pet her is there anywhere that she rolls or twitches skin or tenses like it hurts? Is her body language on par with the other cats i.e. does she 'talk' with her tail? Does she jump on things or prefer to climb or step on things? When she sleeps is she in a relaxed curl or flat out on her side? Is she social? Any possible way she is getting into contraban?

Something is definitely different with her from when she was at Auntie Jenna's house and now that she is back at yours. And much like Autumn's emergency surgery that set her changes in motion, Sunny's patterns did an abrupt change right as she came back into your house if you look at her spreadsheet so now its time to play detective and figure out what is different. I don't think it is just stress, because Jenna has multiple animals as well that should have also caused Sunny to stress out. It kinda feels like we have one of those games where they give you the same two pictures but with small details changed and you have to spot the differences, except here nobody gave us the silly photographs to compare side by side.

Re: 10/8 Sunshine AMPS 363

Thanks, Mel! I'll start paying closer attention to those things. I want to say her mouth is fine, since she just had a dental with 9 (!!) extractions, but like you said - Autumn's mouth was still bad even after her dentals.

She doesn't seem to have any painful spots, but I'll look more carefully. She isn't super-social, but I think that's just the way she is. She's starting to talk to me more, though I'm still trying to figure out the difference between "Hug me!" and "Feed me!" She does jump up onto the chairs to get to her water bowls (on the window sills). She doesn't really like to play, that I've seen, so maybe that does point to something that I'm missing.

I suppose it's possible that she still has a UTI.

There isn't any contraband for her to be getting into, so I don't think that's it. I need to look up the carbs in all those varieties of Grreat Choice that I have - some may be be too high, even though they're all pates.

Edited to add: After reading what you posted about Autumn and Cosequin, I may give that a try with Sunny. I already have some coming for Simon, who does this weird thing of collapsing his back sometimes when I pet him - I'm thinking he's got some arthritis in his hips (he's likely 13-14).

Re: 10/8 Sunshine AMPS 363

Maybe you and Jenna can also put your heads together and compare routines, observations etc and see what was different in the routine at her place and with yours. So much of this dance is playing detective and those of us like you and me that take these guys and gals in after they are already diabetic have an even harder time because we don't know what they were like before we got them. At least when it's a family pet that becomes diabetic there is a back point to reference to, how they were before they got sick, what they were like at diagonsis and what they are now. All we have to go on is how they behave now. Like with Autumn I can't look back at her and say Oh look she's back to being cuddly and social now that she's feeling better because I never knew she was cuddly and social to begin with, all I knew about her was that she was one angry and anti-social little girl when she arrived. I don't know if she was ever interested in toys since she was a basically a farm cat. So I had to play detective with her and try to take personality changes in stride and make a note of what is changing, what has changed and when and why the changes occurred.

Re: 10/8 Sunshine AMPS 363

I'll definitely check with Jenna. Gotta figure out what going on with this gal.

Definitely something going on with little girl. Now if I can just figure out what it is! She did have Sheba Cuts chicken this morning, because she was being jerky about eating other stuff, but that's never sent her super high before.

My house is definitely 10000 times more chaotic than Amy's between dogs, foster dogs, foster children and general chaos.

In spite of all that noise, Sunny did venture out of her rooms a few times to mingle with Pumpkin and Adah Mae and was face to face with Isabella the Awesome Redbone Coonhound without any issues.

Most of the time Sunny was in her own room. Her room had a high window (that I never saw her in), some hiding spots and a full-length screen-door so she could see out into the house. She had a CD/radio that either played my favorite baby CD or NPR.
