Sunday
Every time I tried to get on the board yesterday it was down, so no post since Sunday. Papaya had a reasonably good day yesterday with some pinks but headed down into blue by evening. She's managed to have a couple pretty flat days so I figured more of the same this morning. I have changed her injection site to the flank instead of lower scruff, which may or may not make a difference. It's definitely riskier in the snapping-at-hand department!
This morning she was moving around a bit and woke me just before the alarm, then surprised me by coming right out to the kitchen and meowing for breakfast. I have to explain, she does not have a musical voice. So it's more of a gritty squawk than a meow - which a friend of mine with a toddler laughs about, because she was teaching her little girl animal sounds and Papaya kind of threw in a wrench . . . "Kitty cats say . . . arrrrrawwwwk!" Anyhoo . . . when I tested Papaya, no wonder she was eager for breakfast - her BG was only 46! Just living up to that "not boring" reputation I guess!
I fed her, then waited half an hour, tested again and felt okay about shooting the 79. I probably should have fed less than the usual meal so I could make sure she was going up on her own, but a squawking cat and 4:30 AM brain are not a good combination! +3 was 98, which is likely because of the food hitting and will go back down, but at least she's not plummeting. She wasn't too hungry when I fed her at +3 so I don't feel that it will be a terribly active cycle, but there's food out for her if she needs it.
The BEST part of the morning - after Papaya ate she walked slowly back from the hall rug to the bedroom. I was watching her from behind and realized HEY although it's still rather awkward, she was actually walking properly on her tiptoes, not down on her hocks! I haven't seen that for a very long time, so it is very good news!
Have a great day, everyone!
