I have had quite a few cycles of relatively high numbers. Should I hold the 2 units for only 6 cycles in light of this or is it best to wait at least 4 or 5 days? I did get some blue numbers with the 1.75 but then bounces and higher numbers. I began Lantus a few weeks ago and was on Prozinc before this for 3 months.

Oh boy, I didn't realize that you had to shoot excess insulin into the air and you don't push the plunger down. I hope my lantus isn't damaged? It appears clear.

Should I replace my lantus? PLEASE HELP I will need to get another prescription.

I'd give this dose the full 6 cycles before making a change in dose.

I didn't realize that you had to shoot excess insulin into the air and you don't push the plunger down.
I'm not sure what you mean. What were you doing with the excess insulin? And could you explain what you mean by pushing the plunger down?

are you talking about the video? the holding the plunger down is to keep air from getting injected into the insulin.

don't replace the insulin unless you lose regulation (ie, the numbers go flat and higher) or you see floaties in it or it becomes cloudy. in the meantime, just switch technique to follow the suggestions. you just want it to last as long as possible cuz it's expensive!

yes, the video. I didn't realize you could not adjust the dose within the bottle. (see saw) I moved the plunger within the bottle to adjust the dose.

Hi Catherine

I've been gone and haven't had a chance to welcome you and Lovey.

Unless you wake up to a blue number, I'd increase the dose to 2.25u tomorrow morning as her sixth cycle on this dose was tonight.

Good luck with the increase.

catherine, i get allergy shots and the nurse always see-saws the antigen between the syringe and the vial. i asked her about it once and she said she'd never heard of it being a problem. gotta admit i wonder if it affects the antigen or not. i think with the insulin, i'd just protect it as much as i could.

Hi, Marje,

Hi, Marge, how is Gracie doing? I was just thinking about raising the dose and hoping my insulin is Ok. Thank you so much for a response.

Thanks Catherine. Gracie is doing mah-valous :-D :-D

Julie's videos are very helpful on drawing doses.

Next time you are ready to buy insulin, you might want to try the Solostar pens.

You'll get there! At some point, you'll find that breakthrough dose and see a sea of green and blue.

Off to bed for me....work day tomorrow. Have a great night.
