Gabby and Gizmo had their annual check-up this evening. The vet, who has a cats only practice, makes house calls, which I love!

Gizmo, my little linebacker, weighed in at almost 15 lbs and aside from some tarter developing on his back teeth, is very healthy. Gabby was not amused by the ordeal. She came over to investigate the goings on but as soon as the vet touched her, the hissing and growling started. That's my girl! Her BP was higher than desirable but it needs to be re-checked since there's a good chance it was elevated due to her getting a physical. Labs will be back tomorrow.

I really like this vet. I interviewed her when I first moved here and she has since started a solo practice. There was no discussion about the need for a fructosamine test -- she has the link to Gabby's SS and was duly impressed by the data. She's a huge advocate of home testing and is very up front about how curves at the vet's office are usually wildly inaccurate. There was no attempt to tell me that Gabby shouldn't be in normal range numbers. She gets it.

Your vet is a real keeper! House calls and lets you manage the FD. :) Paws crossed for good B/W results. I guess this will be Gabby's first SDMA test. Just got mine yesterday and had to look up the post you did on it.

How much does Gabby weigh? My civil likes to sleep on my chest too, but I can't fall asleep that way. Might have something to do with the face licking.

@BJM --
Her name is Janet Cohn and the practice is Purrfect Care. The office is in Grandview but won't be open fully until December. She's currently doing house calls only. She used to be at Cats Ohly. I really liked her when I interviewed her at her previous location. She was great with both cats today.

That vet does sound like a keeper! I recently learned that the vet we'd had with punkin (who had left that practice) has started her own mobile clinic, also visiting homes. When I need a vet, I'm going to call her. She won't do everything but will do all the routine stuff, which is mostly what you need.

I'm so glad you've found someone you'll be able to work with. That's so important.

There's nothing better than snoozing with a cat.

Wow, sounds like a home run on that vet! I'd love to find someone like that with my crew, but not likely where I live.

Hooray for the good report so far, and vines for good b/w results.

So awesome you've found a great vet - with house calls - she will be worth her weight in gold.

Hope the BP was just caused by the stress, feisty girl!
