Hopefully PurrFace can get to the yellow range today. HIs water consumtion is way down to what I would consider normal but these past 2-3 days he is ALWAYS hungry. He asking for food 1 to 1-1/2 hours. If I give it to him I know it is going to effect his BG number at testing but it's really hard to not feed him. When he is feed he devours the food, much as he did when he was first diagnosed. When he was in the mid to low yellow and blue range he ate what would consider normal amounts for a cat, 6-8 oz a day. His keytones are negative so is this anything I need to worry about or is it still the effects of the bounce that began a few days ago? Looks like he is going to be hanging in Yellow territory today.

Re: 10/7 PurrFace AMPS 318

Hi John,
Looks like PurrFace is starting to come back down.
If you have questions, you get more notice for them if you put the question mark icon on your post. up above the subject line.

I don't think the appetite means anything is wrong. Just that he is still diabetic and not regulated. The hunger lessens when they start
staying under 200. Needing less water is a good sign. Many of us add a little water to the food, make it a little runnier and it keeps
the food fresher for a little longer too.
Early on I was feeding Shadow whenever she asked ( free feeding) and keeping her portions on the small size. I knew her ways and
she likes to eat more often in the mornings. You may notice there are many here who have a 2nd and 3rd breakfast (breffis).
I didn't start controlling the feeding times for quite a while because I wanted her to catch up on her weight loss. Smaller portions more frequently do help.

But you know your cat so always evaluate with your own eye as to whether or not you think something is wrong.
You aren't far from the next dose increase if the numbers don't start coming down here in the next cycle or two or three.
So you will have to put on some patience pants and watch and wait. :-D

Re: 10/7 PurrFace AMPS 318

Rhiannon. Thanks for the suggestions. We add a little water to the food but will try adding a bit more. We're basically feeding PurrFace whenever he wants something because he originally lost about 25% of his weight, going from a bit over 17lbs down to 12lbs. He's back up to 13lbs now. I think he needs somewhere between 14-15lbs. We have been giving him a half of a 3oz can of FF Classic, with a full can at his "normal" Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner time. I'll try just giving him about a 1/4 can at intervals instead of free feeding.
