First post here. KittyLou had I-131 for hyperthyroid 8/31. BG numbers super high since. 4u Basaglar, am and pm. Vet wants to raise to 5. never been regulated. How high can the dose go? Are any cats resistant to Basaglar? Should I try a different insulin?

Hi Nancy

I see that in your prev posts we suggested switching Kitty Lou to a lower carb food and also getting some night tests. Have neither been possible?

Cats often go lower at night and without any PM tests, you are getting only half the picture. Too much insulin can look like not enough insulin when you don't get enough tests to catch the lows. When a cat's BG drops too low, the liver and pancreas flood it with sugar to bring it up.

A change to a lower carb food may also help bring the numbers down.
