OTJ Day 12! AMBG 98; PMBG 93. Thanks everyone for all your support on last post. I'm reposting my response to picknickchick's question about pancreatitis because I don't think it got read, being an end of the line post. I haven't found the post on pancreatitis that I was referring too. If anyone has it, they might post it for Picknickchick. Donaleen's advice on B12 was a key I'm pretty sure.

Picknickchick and River - wow, River is so pretty. He looks a lot like a black cat we had for 18 years. We got him a year before our first child was born, and he passed when she was 17 (she's 28 now). So my kids grew up with him.:-) On the pancreatitis, I did exactly what the advisors on this board told me to do. I'll try to find the post, but it included keeping him home (except when I had to work, and I had no choice but to have him at the vet), injecting fluids, giving pain meds, giving tummy calmer (Pepcid) and getting him to eat somehow. Also, and I think this was really important, at Donaleen and Ozy's urgings (thanks Donaleen and Ozy!), I had him get a B12 injection. The vet poopooed it at first, but after the first injection, he made marked improvements. I'm continuing to give him a B12 injection every week, and he's had no re-occurrance (knock on wood).

I know all kitties respond differently, and some are more difficult to get well than others, but I've tried to do everything exactly as advised here. Because of my schedule, I haven't always been able to do so. But I think the advisors here really know their stuff, based on the statistics of numbers of kitties who get well, so the more exactly the advise can be followed, the better the results.

Good luck with River!

Debbie
