10/5 Radar - eating well - evaluating his dose today - looks like he'll move tonight

My last post was last weekend. It's been a crazy busy week at work. I'm hopeful that things will start to calm down there so I can do more than just work all the time.

The Mirtazapine gel we were using to stimulate Radar's appetite could only be given once in 24 hours and as it's power wore off, his eating also tapered off which was just not working well for him especially with his chronic eating issues. His trial of cypro during the last two weeks has gone well. I was a bit concerned about the varying amounts of food he wanted to eat. Some days he was hungry constantly and could consume dish after dish after dish of food and on others he was hungry for only a "normal" amount of food. After consulting with our vet about the fluctuations in his appetite, she assured us that we don't need to worry about it.

As Radar eats more and more raw food, he appears to be feeling better and the LB is not such a mess either. My biggest challenge these days is finding raw food that does not have any fish of any kind in it because Radar's system is so sensitive. Tiki Cat has a new line of raw foods including a quail and turkey mixture that does NOT have any fish in it. :joyful: This is a big hit at our house and Radar is very happy about a new yummy food to eat. :cat: I'm contemplating a trial of Food Fur Life, but I'm worried about his response to the green lipped mussel. :nailbiting: I think I'll add it to chicken to start with so I can control the variables better and I think it will have to wait until I'm on a break from school in a couple of weeks.
