WE HAVE SURVIVED THE TRAUMA OF TRAVEL This bean is exhausted this morning from the 2 really long late green lagoon-scraping nights and this, and then I had no idea where his #s would go, so I got up several times ... they were flat as a board. I guess that his stress keeping it up for an entire cycle helped maybe because he didn't want to eat much on arrival so I gave him some HC/MC mix along with this usual. He ate some of it, plus I gave some of Molly's kibbles. Plus, I had pre-loaded the syringe by about 4 hours, but that shouldn't have an effect. It wasn't refrigerated but in the small cooler with other stuff and an ice bag.

Leo poopied the crate about 20 minutes into the ride, and I couldn't pull over for another 20 minutes. He mewed so sadly, saying "Mommy, I poopied my cage and I don't want to lie next to it. Pleeeease mommy make everything better!" I finally got off and into the parking lot of some huge shipyard factory and cleaned it up - but solid poopies! Small victories. The rest of the trip, he just zoned out. No barfs - yay for Cerenia. My gut was tied up in knots - feeling so bad and guilty to do this to him. I am a SUCKER for the furry four-leggers.

Thanks to all who send us travel vines and "take a deep breath" vines - your encouragement was wonderful and really needed - Dyana and J.D., Carla and Furball, Jane and the Emperor Karre, Rhiannon and Shadow, Alexa and Reuben, Anne and Muffin, and Wendy and Neko. It made me feel like you were by our sides as we were driving. I was so anxious all the way home because he knew he was probably miserable, and I could see his little ears vibrating up and down the whole time. I asked DH to think about a Cat Carrier Shock Absorber of some sort.

Right now Leo s looking out the back door onto his old hunting grounds, flicking his tail at the birds. I will put out some bird feed in the feeders later. He growled at me (!!!) when I put him in his room for bed. But perhaps I will soon be forgiven.

Sorry I haven't gotten around to condos. I was out like a log, have to work today, and will nap later if I am lucky. And Molly has to go to the vet this afternoon for blood work. My job, apparently, is to torment kitties.

Healing vines to Melissa and Tarragon, and all the others who need them.

Re: 10/5 Leo AMPS 371 +3 281

Leo will forgive you after a long nap in his cozy bed. He knows you are trying to help. He just wanted to stay up late. He is a teenager after all. Hope you have a great day.

Re: 10/5 Leo AMPS 371 +3 281

It sounds like this trip was easier for Leo - no pukus. I'm sure he'll forgive you the next time he sees you. You know he loves you. It's his job to make you feel bad once in a while. I hope you get good results from Molly's bloodwork. I hope you can get some rest soon.

@Carla - I've been forgiven, mostly. And yes, wonderfulness on the no pukus. As long as I open the back door so he can see outside and watch the birds and squirrels. Molly did as well as expected at the vet. Her BP is ok (she's on BP meds) and she howled only 3/4 of the time. That's an improvement! I'll get some rest tonight. I got to go BTB this morning after shot time for 2 hours. Nice.....

@Shannan - - a teenager - lol! He's a little fart! He had a nap, ignored a lot of his food, but we're both settling back in. Hopefully this is one step towards a smoother trip. We get to go back on Monday or Tuesday ...

Did you have to pull over and shoot on the road?

I'm hoping he'll get used to the traveling. I think he will.

I'm glad you made it back with only one poopy incident and no barfing. Every step is progress! Leo will learn the routine at some point. After a couple of days of our road trip to Colorado, Neko figured out when we were getting ready to go and used the LB before we loaded up the car. Did Leo eat on the road at shot time?

Paws crossed for good sleepus tonight! Nice blues today.

HI Dyana - No, I didn't have to shoot on the road. We got started early enough, and I didn't have to stop in the middle (other than the poopie stop) so we made good time. I shot about 15 minutes after we got home. He didn't really want to eat, so I gave his normal meal plus some higher carb as a side. Hopefully he's getting a clue what's going on.

Wendy - Neko figured out to go in the LB before?!? Really!?! That is amazing! I told DH that I should take a pre-trip trip to get him nervous enough to go in the box and then we take off on the real trip! Or I thought about a stop about 20 minutes in, and then stop and put in him the car box and see what he does. Leo wouldn't even eat a treat on the road, let alone a meal. He didn't want to eat until several hours after we got home, although he did eat a little on arrival.

Hopefully things settle out ... really, they HAVE to! I am as nervous as he is I think, just because I know traveling stinks. So I need to have some catnip before the trip too!

Thanks for checking in on us. I just jumped online really quickly - I think I can get to sleep early and work off some of this sleep deficit.

Good night ladies and kitties!
