WE HAVE SURVIVED THE TRAUMA OF TRAVEL This bean is exhausted this morning from the 2 really long late green lagoon-scraping nights and this, and then I had no idea where his #s would go, so I got up several times ... they were flat as a board. I guess that his stress keeping it up for an entire cycle helped maybe because he didn't want to eat much on arrival so I gave him some HC/MC mix along with this usual. He ate some of it, plus I gave some of Molly's kibbles. Plus, I had pre-loaded the syringe by about 4 hours, but that shouldn't have an effect. It wasn't refrigerated but in the small cooler with other stuff and an ice bag.
Leo poopied the crate about 20 minutes into the ride, and I couldn't pull over for another 20 minutes. He mewed so sadly, saying "Mommy, I poopied my cage and I don't want to lie next to it. Pleeeease mommy make everything better!" I finally got off and into the parking lot of some huge shipyard factory and cleaned it up - but solid poopies! Small victories. The rest of the trip, he just zoned out. No barfs - yay for Cerenia. My gut was tied up in knots - feeling so bad and guilty to do this to him. I am a SUCKER for the furry four-leggers.
Thanks to all who send us travel vines and "take a deep breath" vines - your encouragement was wonderful and really needed - Dyana and J.D., Carla and Furball, Jane and the Emperor Karre, Rhiannon and Shadow, Alexa and Reuben, Anne and Muffin, and Wendy and Neko. It made me feel like you were by our sides as we were driving. I was so anxious all the way home because he knew he was probably miserable, and I could see his little ears vibrating up and down the whole time. I asked DH to think about a Cat Carrier Shock Absorber of some sort.
Right now Leo s looking out the back door onto his old hunting grounds, flicking his tail at the birds. I will put out some bird feed in the feeders later. He growled at me (!!!) when I put him in his room for bed. But perhaps I will soon be forgiven.
Sorry I haven't gotten around to condos. I was out like a log, have to work today, and will nap later if I am lucky. And Molly has to go to the vet this afternoon for blood work. My job, apparently, is to torment kitties.
Healing vines to Melissa and Tarragon, and all the others who need them.
