Goodmorning everyone :-D Callie did eat some of her siblings dry food. I see it in the PMPS # .. ooohhhhh bad girl! At least I didn't have much dry in the bowls since we are all switching to wet. The 2 civvies are more reluctant, but we have made progress. It's hard to deal with the likes and dislikes of each cat, so I am going to do yet another list and put each ones favs on it and see if we can't match up in at least 4 foods. GAD .. Well I can't complain much since I know many people have a hard time with their FD cat and mine has been so good about the wet. All is well here and Buddy is napping on my arm while the girls take an after breakfast nap. It is a dreary day outside and even the cats aren't parked at the windows. Nothing fun to see :) I'll be on and off today. I have a lot to do to get ready for the move and getting a job, so now that Callie is not in the dangerous reds anymore I need to get cracking. I am going to do more tests today, but which ones should I focus on? There was one paper written that says we neglect the +1 & +2 &+10 and the +11 so I may try for those today. If people would check her SS and tell me which ones I should go for in order to help fill this out to advantage.. I would really appreciate it. Well I wish everyone a grand day. Morning Libby! Keep on keeping on as far as the switch to canned! It is a challenge with multiple kitties though...we understand! :roll: But it sounds as if you have a good plan...there's got to be a few that they all will eat!
So, are you going to use the Reli-On from now on? (the test strips are so reasonable so I don't mind testing often myself...hope you find that it will be good for you too!)

The idea with getting data is that you want to see how Callie is reacting to the insulin during the cycle....so we try to alternate the testing hours from cycle-to-cycle to fill in the picture. If you can get a +4, +7 and maybe a +11 today it will be good and also at least one PM check~maybe before bed time? If the numbers seem low to you, just come back and post the BG number. You can then decide which hours you would like to check each day....

Do you have that information in your signature line or are you posting it separately with each post?

Maybe you can get a minute to update your SS this morning...do you have your HC gravy cans and karo syrup on hand? Do you have any questions from the stickies at the top of the page?

I see you started another thread....we have many kitties posting each day so we ask that everyone only post one condo per day per kitty. any questions you have may be posted in your own condo. here is the question you had:

I go back to Google docs and use the template...I click on it and then print that for my notebook at home. I write down all the BGs on that and then transfer the info to the online SS...

Thanks and a good idea about the SS .. It is an online one though so what program opens it? I'll delete the other post now .. sorry. I am confused since I go to the main MB too. I'll try for the +4, +7 and the +11 .. thanks for the info. Yes I am a ReliOn convert! I'll be staying with that one. May get a mini as backup since it uses the same strips. I am going to do a signature like the rest of you have and get as much info in there as you think I will need. With all that's going on I just didn't have time or energy left before :( Now she is mostly yellows and blue I can get more done (BG) Yes I do have HC (22 and 24 3 cans each and 2 17s and some 7s) and honey at hand. I am a big chicken, so I have everything right in our room in a box with the hypo instructions. Thanks Pat .. if there is anything else I may need .. let me know :smile: Thanks again .. In case no one has told you about our shorthand for the condos I will post it here for you:
Since we have a lot to think about with this FD, and we realize that our kitties are a lot more than just their BG numbers, we have a devised a short cut to explaining their overall health and well being. We watch for 5 Ps in each day and then make a mention of it in our condos. We might say something like" All Ps in place today" or "4 Ps so far" still missing the playing or something like that.
P=Purring
P=Peeing
P=Purring Preening
P=Pooping
P=Playing
Now, my two are 13 so we don't see the P for Playing all that much, but I do watch for all the others. No pooping is a concern and if they aren't purring it means something is wrong. We watch the Whole Cat and give our WCR whole cat report of the day....

(When you go to your documents in Google, you should see the Insulin Template listed...right? 12/12 Insulin Template?)
that is what i click on and a blank one comes up...I just print that out....

You can then link the entire profile to your signature line and we can click the link to read about you and Callie, okay?

By George Pat .. you are a mindreader! I had wanted to ask about the p's but felt silly and thought I would just troll the MB and find out what it meant :) You saved me .. thanks. My cats are 10 and being in a small room (with me) since I rent a room in a house and they don't like the dog downstairs they stay here. My boy .. Budy will still get his freak on and tear across the bed and ottoman and dresser .. on occasion .. we all duck and hide when he does ..lol The girls just like to be rubbed and snuggled. They move around the room from place to place, but not enough excercise! I hope to find an apartment where they will have room to run soon! I also wanted a link to the setting up of the profile etc. and was just going back to my old condo to try and retrieve the urls that people sent. I should have coppied all of them at the time .. I do have a slew of post by members saved as well as most of the stickys! I haven't had a chance to organize them as I should, but most are where I can get them in a hurry. I need reminding all the time (BG) I have NoteTab Light and have the important fact sheets all preloaded and in tabs so I can stay in the program and just click the info tab I need. I didn't get the profile or signature info copied so I was lost with that .. THANKS for putting them up! I am copying them now!!! As ever I very much appreciate all the help and advice and will do my best to be a good newbe :) Libby and Callie (and civvies: brother Buddy and sister Missy) PS The way others have set the signatures and profiles is much neater (BG) than mine .. will attempt to get this done by tomorrow at the latest!

((Libby)) There is so much to do and so much to think about in the beginning ....it is not easy! It is good that you have at least the link to the SS but when you get it in your SS it will be so much easier for you. You won't have to copy and paste it anymore. Just take your time...it will all be in order soon enough. :razz:
BTW, all the links are in the forum entitled "Tech Support' so you can always go there and read some of the interesting posts listed.
Come back and ask as many questions as you have. We all stick together and want to help so don't worry about that, okay?
:YMHUG: I was away this past weekend and am only now trying to catch up with all the condos so that's why I am only now coming around to bug you! ;-) (this was the first time I have been away and I was really upset about leaving my kitties...but I had a great petsitter so they were just fine.)

Okie, maybe Pat's Shadow and Raja are super-doubley-purry to make up for not playing much, hence 2 Ps for purring :razz: The rest of us have one P for Purring and another for Preening ;-)

There used to be an old template for charting 12-hr curves; I think it was from another sugarpet (non-FDMB) site. I haven't seen anyone use that particular template in the last 2, maybe 3 or 4 years. If you're using an Excel-like application, just mark your time intervals (I use +1, +2, +3) for the x-axis and BGs for the y-axis, and you should be good to go. Or use your same google doc ss; use the charting function. Here's a really old one that we did a long time ago.

LOL .. wow Yes the preening is my fave and when they are all 3 in full mode it is a sight to see. The bed rocks and rolls (BG). Nice job with the SS! :thumbup

When you get another BG reading, you can go back to the first post and click "edit"....edit the title to read the new number
AMPS=399, +4=289, etc. We show a few of the readings in the header and then the PMPS finally. We don't want to add too many though...so as to not let the header wrap around into two lines. Delete a few as you add more.

We do not edit what was written in the first post. If you want to add anything, writhe ETA: (edited to add)
but mostly you will post a new post to add anything during the day. Very good job!

Hi Libby, I'm glad Pat is helping you get settled in with the housekeeping. I wanted to wait till you had time to settle in , but she beat me to it.

If you want to down load your SS to your computer and run it in your own SS program , go to your Google docs SS:
-- in "File" menu on the SS (not you browser) you will see "down load as" and can make your choice of the format. That way you have a copy on your computer, just incase. I save mine periodically, and I'm a MacHead using iWorks: Numbers! It even works for me! :lol:

You can add extra rows to the right in your SS for other info. I keep track of how many days I've used a cartridge, food and lately I've been putting the link to that day's condo in a column. After a while, if you want to find you condo from a certain day it can be a pain to backtrack too far or even search for it

A couple little time savers,
  • -- You don't need to put your link to yesterday's condo in every reply, just the first one of the day.

Ok Libby...you are doing great. I just wanted to say that we don't comment on yesterday's condos because that will bump them up to the top of the list. Each new post in each condo bumps it up to the very top of the page. So, I am bumping this one up and hopefully, no one will write in yesterday's condo again. :mrgreen:

Thanks to everyone who has allowed me to get away with the housekeeping :) I did need time to get Callie into a lower BG level. I keep reading about the damage done to a cats system overall and was frightened that every day with high readings was a hardship on all her other organs! I just hunkered down with one goal .. get her out of the red and into the yellow ASAP. Those wonderful blues are fantastic. Then I can rest assured her system isn't overloaded. I did test Buddy with a diastik since he is a sibling and I'll get Missy as soon as I can catch her at the litterbox :) He is a beautiful NEG! I am sure she is too but now I am paranoid ..lol I did the avatar and her SS but still having trouble with a profile. I'm going to create a google doc and link it to show our story and her Lantus experiences. I hope that"s ok? Anyway that's all I have for now. I am changing her heading now with her +11 and PMPS. Thanks again and any suggestions are always appreciated! Libby and Callie (and civvies: brother Buddy and sister Missy)
