HI MIke, Bj seems to like this dose, he keeps drifting along, keeping just out of reach of typical reduction. Is he still perhaps sneaking forbidden food? Any progress getting your other cat converted to wet LC food?

I don't think so. Certainly not in the last couple days. But I can't ever be 100% sure... though I'm 95% so. I've been letting him outside the past week and I saw him eating grass a couple times. Do you think that is bad?

Maybe he will never get off the insulin

Meh. It's going to take some time. It's a dead end right now. It's such a tough sell to the girlfriend. I would have had the cat converted by now if I had my way. It's too easy to cave in and give a finicky cat what she wants. But when she gets hungry enough, she will eat LC. I know this for a fact because when my girlfriend was away for a few days that's all she was fed. And that bowl was always empty. But it'll end up in a fight so I'm not going to push it any further for now.

I don't know much about cats eating grass, I think they eat it as digestive aid for fiber or something. When my previous cats occasionally ate it they would promptly vomit. Cats we have now are strictly indoor cats so only grass the get is licking grass clipping off shoes. They get additional fiber from eating the furniture and dust bunnies.

I understand, have to pick your battles, OtherCat knows how to play your DGF and its her cat, her call. What are the odds dry high carb diet would contribute to OtherCat getting diabetes some day.

I still hope Bj does get off insulin someday! You may want to ask the wise ones about tweaking dose to help break the spell Bj seems to be under.

BJ's been doing nicely.
I would say the odds are very good at DGF cat getting diabetes.
I haven't looked up the history of cat food yet. But I know this is a modern invention. They didn't have commercial cat food.
The current commercial cat foods/dog foods are fairly young and just as bad for them as all our overprocessed food is for us ( hence
the human diabetic explosion)

I would hope that after watching all you have been thru, she would want to avoid putting her cat thru the same possibilities.
After all, once a diabetic, always a diabetic. They just become diet controlled.

Hope it sinks in soon.
And I hope BJ finds his sweet spot and does OTJ really soon.
