ocr: (other cat report) annie seems much improved this morning...fed and meds given.

icr-(important cat report)- all p's in place, and bean back on track. while i would like to appear to the forum as the epitome of grace under fire, standing firm while the invaders storm the fortress, such was not the case. since the furshot, i have gone thru 3-5 syringes trying to get the proper dose in, and felt w/ the last 2 that there might be air bubbles in syringe. but this morning was a good shot, and i am no longer feeling like i am fumbling binks treatment.

Welcome back, pat!! i havent seen much but binks condo for cpl days, so am late with this...but we missed you!

Now kiddo....glad you found your little one...how is she today?

Binks is looking good...and as far as the syringe...are you pushing the plunger back and forth about 4-5 times before you try to get insulin in it? There is a tiny amount of lubricant inside and if you spread it around by pushing the plunger back and forth, it helps to keep the air bubbles down to a minimum. I then depress the plunger all the way as far as I can and then while holding it down, i insert the needle into the insulin. Then, slowly let go of the plunger and draw in the insulin.

think it was more of a bean issue...i really let all that was going on throw me. i've been using the techniques you and sienne shared with us, but really was struggling...today it went like clockwork.

Hi Celi. Sometimes a change of syringe brand helps.
I've had good luck with BD, but am using up a different brand now, and find they dont' glide as easily. I wasted syringes/insulin, becaue of pushing too much out, and cant/don't want to, put needle back in pen. That just happened our last two cycles.
You probably already know, to screw the plunger up slowly, not push, to get to desired line??

I'm glad Annie is improving. :smile:

Hey - so glad that Annie is doing better. What a relief that must be.

And glad you are back on track too. And Binks. Not bad of an amps. Off you go Binks - find those blues again OK?

We're so glad to hear both Annie and Binks are doing well. Those fur shots are frustrating aren't they? So is Annie going to be a permanent inside resident?
We sent extra snowflakes and healing vines for her. Miss your posts but know you are busy. How's the knee?

well, he's taking it slowly, but i'm thinking that's better than a dive.

thanks for the info, y'all, and also for the wonderful support over annie-fannie...
getting ready to order our next stock of syringes...barb, so it's BD that you recommend? and yeah...couldnt seem to draw enuf out of the pen, which i found weird in the extreme...swapped pens, and now seems ok.

as far as annie being an indoor cat...she's already asking to go out...i think it will be nearly impossible to transition her and smudge to completely indoor after 5 yrs of "go wherever whenever we wish to"

smudge stays in the yard except when she takes me for walks up and down the street...i'm gonna have to do some creative thinking to get annie to do the same.

got the neighbor who lost her cat to the poisoner to post flyers, tho...also suggested she post it on the net..FB or yahoo, or whever. other lady is too old to be that involved.

Late to the party as usual, just woke up after a needed BTB, you should think about that yourself. So glad that Annie is feeling better, good luck on keeping her inside at least for awhile. Any chance she'd settle for an enclosed porch?

I'm glad the posters are going up, perhaps you could work w/ the neighbor doing it and at least mention that there have been 2 cats poisoned. A letter to the editor would be a good warning for others too.

letter to the editor is a great thought ann! also, on the enclosure...i've been out there measuring the covered patio this morning. after all, i'm here to improve the properties...and have thought for a long time binks would love that. now, i've decided it isnt a luxury...it's a must.

I think Nova has a fabulous enclosure system. You'll have to search for her posts since she hasn't posted recently (Dawn & Nova). Actually I recently bought something called a Feline Funhouse :roll: at a discount store (basically a mesh pop-up tent). Butthead loved it, but when I put Donovan in there, he paced like a caged panther and freaked out.

Hey Celi...you probably don't remember but we had one of our outdoor patios enclosed for the cats...we call it the "kitty cage" but it's actually quite large..we have a couple of large cat condos and also two chairs and a loveseat for us beans and there is plenty of room to move around. One side is the wall of the house, another side is the door from the living room, and then the other two sides are perforated steel and the perforations are tiny so bugs can't get in but the cats have a great view out. We had it painted and it's really quite lovely. We had to do the steel instead of mesh because we have coyotes and bobcats on our property and I didn't want something ripping through the mesh...with the steel, you'd have to have a blowtorch to get in it :lol: :lol: Maybe that would solve Annie's longings to go out?? We had alot of feral cats and stray cats at the no-kill where we volunteered and those cats did fine on the enclosed patios that were built for them. This would be so great for your kitties!

Hey Dorothy and Annie...I heard yous might gets your own special outdoor place!! I hope so...I love mine...I can see the birds RIGHT THERE and a few "rodents" (yum) that run around outside my porch. It's so much fun...I really like it when it rains!!!

was it just a week and a half ago that i was maligning the color yellow? got to admit i'm not displeased to see it today!
he's in a very good mood, and seems to have forgiven the extra-curricular attentions...

y'all may think i'm crazy, but i have reroofed a portion of one house, and rebuilt the side of june-bob's garage, so i'm looking into putting together framework and enclosing patio with steel mesh wire. i was able to build to very passable 6 ft dog-ear fence with gates that actually worked at june's last year, so now with the help of online sites and Lowe's...i'm not afraid to tackle anything in the home improvement line. (not that the projects always look quite like i drew the plans, mind you...) i've done weird plumbing, installed drywall, and have actually been certified for certain electrical items from all the ancient stores that we chose to improve...

and when we try to rent the properties...i trot out that famous line..." i find it has a certain eccentric charm, don't you?"

i couldnt help it, kim...after missing out on everything here the last few days and stressing out like a fool...i'm finally cruising the forum and it's made me feel better. strange how our virtual family is the one that gives us the healing, isn't it?

back on track with successful shots, and back to a more civilized shot time.

annie is feeling better, but only has regained half her voice thus far...she seems tired, but is very contented...and who wouldnt be tired after her week?

strangest of all, she and binks are both on the bed watching the percy jackson movie with me.

Yes indeedy! I am now Crazy Cat Lady as well as Crazy Tree Lady around here. Ehh, who cares! By the way I'm a carpenter too! No reason to believe a woman can't do anything she chooses!

ann, everything BUT have a love affair with the tv remote ;)

percy jackson and the olympians...a great teen book series and a movie worth seeing cuz uma thurman plays medusa! gotta ck it out marjorie!

well, gonna curl up with 3 brats...couldnt leave poor smudgie outside while the brats were apportioning out the body pillow that binks decided he could share...
