Well I stayed home from the show today guess its just as well I have a friend who lives in Knoxville aby breeder who I am close too well darn if she does not want Bluebell to campaign sometime I really hate breeding I just get so attached to my show/breeding cats I have tried ever since 2003 to distance myself from them some so the pain of them leaving be it as a kitten or adult would not be so darn hard I just am a person that gets attached like instantly I guess. Guess thats why when I first started doing this one of my vets said Lisa you will never be able to sell a kitten since prior to all this I had always done lots of rescue and had a lot of cats that I would get attached to well like the Bug who still needs a home. Ok I am rambling DH had told me yesterday that this friend really wanted to show Bluebell part of me wants to say yes since she has Voodoo's brother and showed him this past season and he was top aby premier in the country since in a way its a great way to get our name out there for show politic crapola can you guys tell I need to vent about this :lol: anyway I told her I would think on it ...its just hard I like showing but the parting with cats is so difficult at least for me

Ok Do Lou report still on that $%** pink floor grrrrrr :evil: what is with him I reduced him since was advised to in case he is getting too much insulin and he is making inverted curves so IDK something going to have to change soon I cannot stand to see him staying this high he is already peeing more now. breffis 1 and 2 eaten all P's in place
Kittens are doing well eating mush gain's weight. New kittens looking good and nursing (anti-jinx)

Morning Lisa - I never knew anybody that shows cats so I think all this is interesting. Is Bluebell from your cattery? I bet there is a lot of politics. You never could find a home for Ladybug? I agree - frustrating numbers for DL. Have a good Halloween.

was just peeking at his SS - his numbers have really jumped all over since the middle of October. drives you crazy, doesn't it?

I hear you on the being too attached - that would be me, and I would end up with cats everywhere cuz I couldn't give them away. I hope Bluebell shows well. I can only imagine on all the politics involved. aiyee!

Yes Kim she is from my first litter out of our blue male Voodoo who is the best cat we have ever bred here he got a regional award as a kitten and if we had started showing him earlier as kitten he more then likely would have gotten a national award he really is the main reason I am still breeding I got very burnt out on the show scene 2 yrs ago and wanted to quit DH said we needed to at least stay in it until Voodoo kittens since well I guess you show all those yrs with nothing spectacular and then Voodoo came along and just kicked ass in the rings but it took him 2 yrs to learn how to breed he is such a baby so anyway Bluebell is the first blue out of our cattery since Voodoo and she is out of his 1st litter the 2 litters I have right now are Voo kids. So now he has fathered 3 litters I am a closed cattery so I do not do stud service too much chance for bringing sickness into the home and with DL I am always afraid he will get sick on top of his FD. Sooo no I still have not placed Ladybug gosh she is so cute she was running around this morning in halloween cat form playing she is a character and just does not get near the attention she needs and Kim the politics in cat showing is just terrible there I truly hate that part of it

Handsome DoLou come on down sweetie there's more to do down there remember? Did you get turned around up there? confused_cat Just follow the other kitties that started out high they are coming down. Member there's a party tonight. Mannie is picking you up. How ya gettin to da bus? You gonna jumps out da window? Saves me a seat you gets picked up firsts 'cause i live near Maine. Binks got a good costume for you too or ya wearin somethin diffrent. I's gonna wear the duck he picked out for me. See ya in da bus.

I know how hard it is to breed and show. I always worried about my puppies and sold them with an iron clad contract which required that I be notified if they couldn't keep the dog at any time. It did happen a few times and I always took them back and found them loving homes.
I met a lot of great people and made some good friends. The dog show competitors can be brutal too especially when your dogs start to win. My girl Magic won the National Specialty in 82 and the things some people did to try to ruin her show career was ridiculous. Same with her son Quincy. In the end their qualities and showmanship won out. IMHO you just need to stay strong and think what the goal is ... to better the breed. It sounds like Voodoo and is one of those cats the breed needs. Do cat breeders use artificial insemination in cats? There are dog breeders who wouldn't naturally breed their males because of fear of injury some *****es are well *****es. Any way good luck and congratulations some people breed a lifetime and never have that special once in a lifetime animal. :YMHUG:

Do Lou, do you need to have Mannie make an emergency run to pick you up? Come on down for the party you can eat more of those great fuds if you are low. -- Tess

I know nothing about breeding or showing, but i wish you luck. If your friend "shows" Bluebell, does that mean you sell her? Or afterwards does she come back for you to breed her? I know what you feel about attachment, I even have that problem with my trees. :lol: How much more with a cat who loves you back!

No she will come bk Ann and this is a great friend of ours and I trust her but I am just so attached to Bluebell she is the only one of my cats that likes the chihuahua and loves to play with dogs toys so she just has a really cute personality and even though my cats are all confined in some manner aka diff rooms and our sun porches I let them all take turns every day to be out of their area to be wtih us so i just worry about her going to a strange home yeah I am just really close to her but she will come bk I have to admit I am quite depressed over it even though the cat is such a pretty girl and we have been low on money this past yr with me not working a lot and my money is show money so we have not shown a lot this year this will give her the chance to really see how nice of a girl she is this friend of mine loves to win

Oh I agree so much with everything you just said we breed on very small scale for improve the quality of our cats for showing last yr I only sold 1 kitten this year I have sold 2 and I also sell with a contract always have very important I think and cat people are the same way some will do anything for a cats career as well Kathy what kind of dogs did you breed/show? No AI is not done with cats.

Congratulations on the new litter...so happy they are nursing just fine...how wonderful for you! So interesting about the shows and breeding...I know nothing of that world...but it sounds as if you are doing a wonderful job Lisa... :thumbup
Do Lou is playing the same Halloween trick that Shadow and some of the other boys are playing today. I don't like it one bit! Hoping they get a hold of their senses and their BGs) and cut it out!!

Hi Lisa, Breeding and showing sound very intricate! I can well imagine that you don't want to let any of your kitties go! Interesting about the contract, too. When we adopted Stu from the ASPCA in NYC we signed a contract that specified that we were not to give or sell him to another party--that he must be returned to the ASPCA if he didn't work out. Apparently for two previous sets of adoptive parents he didn't work out and was returned twice to the ASPCA!! He was such a sweet guy and we never could figure out why anyone would not have wanted to keep him. (But lucky for us!!)
Glad to hear that both litters of kittens are doing well.

+3.5 217 so glad to see yellow again never thought I would be happy with yellow but after this pink streak I will sure take it
 
Congrats on yellow!! What a perfect costume for DL...Binks really has an eye for that!!! Glad the kittens are well.
