These are terrible numbers for Charms, but I noticed he was not using the litter box, also very quiet, so I called the vet. She put him on Clavamox, so we will see if his numbers improve. I searched the board and found posts that said clavamox was ok for kitties with diabetes. This is the first time Charms has been sick since he was diagnosed with diabetes. He seems perkier already this evening. Made him some more chicken broth. - Sam

Is it Clavamox liquid or pills you are using? Some of the liquids add sugar, but Charm's numbers seem to be improving already. Did the vet say what she thought was wrong? Did he get an exam?

Did Charms go in for an exam?

If he's not feeling well, and his numbers are rising, I think he should be seen if you can get him there. Treating "whatever" with antibiotics when you don't know for sure what you're treating could make things worse in the long run.

Hope Charms feels better soon..whatever the problem is!

clavamox is ok for diabetic cats, but the question is whether or not he has an infection and this is the best AB for it. i would really be hesitant to use an antibiotic without a good reason for it. i'd think you'd want to see a high white blood cell count to say there was an infection. was it just for the higher numbers this morning? even though it's higher for charms, they're not overly high.

i saw your post from yesterday saying his weight loss has slowed down. that's good - especially if he needs to gain a couple of pounds.
