Yikes on that AMPS! I"m not sure where that came from, other than maybe she's stressed about the lack of power at home, or its a reaction to the cold. She spent last evening surfing the safe greens.

Our power went out at 1:45 yesterday afternoon and hasn't come back on yet. I'm at work right now (where surprisingly the power did come back on - it went out the same time it went out at home), just so I could check e-mail and the forums. While we only got about 5" of snow - which is insane for October - I think this has been the most destructive "winter" storm we've ever had. There are tons of trees and power lines down everywhere. The house is freezing (last i checked it was 55 in there), and taking care of the cats at 5:00am in the pitch black is something I care to never repeat again. I know they are working feverishly to get the power back on, but at this point it can't happen soon enough. That cats are all insanely restless, and I feel so bad that they are cold. If they traveled better, I would pack them all up and bring them to work, too!

So, I'm not sure when I'll be back on again...but please help us out with LL prayers that the power comes back on before PMPS!!!

Oh wow Amy! My sister and i were talking and she told me about the crazy snow storm the east was getting, the first thing i thought of was all the LL east coasters like you. I hope the drive to work wasn't too horrible and sorry to hear your babies are cold.......brrrrrr.

Trix! Where the heck did that 230 come from????

The east coast weather has been all over the news. I think Trixie just decided to show you she could react to the low numbers AND respond to your stress. I've had to test by flashlight -- no fun at all. I hope you were able to measure your insulin without too much aggravation.

Hubby was able to draw the dose without too much trouble. However, I usually handle the morning routine on my own, so having two of us there was throwing the cats off a bit. But, still, in the dark it's much easier to do all of it with two people...

He also just called to say that, after talking to a neighbor, the report is that our power will be on anywhere between this afternoon and Wednesday. I'm trying not to cry over that one...I'm no princess, but I was not designed to be roughing it like this :lol: !

If the power doesn't come back on this afternoon, I may come back to work again to check in - and enjoy some heat and light! Fortunately, I just live a mile and a half away....

During my short drive between work and home, the power came back on! I sure hope it's here to stay. I don't think I've ever been this happy...tears of joy! :lol:

Much better this evening! I think we're ALL happy to have light and heat tonight! I'm one who finds much comfort in light...I don't like the dark, which is why I struggle in the winter, and sleep with a nightlight. Add to that the fact that I actually get stressed if I can't easily see what time it is in the middle of the night, and I was pushing "basket case" status :lol: !

I think Trixie was thrilled this morning. Because our fridge was out of commission, she got Fancy Feast Classics Chicken for breakfast. Even though it's low-carb, it seems to raise her BGs, but it was the best plan I could come up with, considering I had no place to store leftovers of the "more expensive" foods. With the FF and several cats involved, we were able to polish off the entire can in one sitting. It will probably take a day for her to come back down to normal Trixie numbers, but I'm OK with that...we did what we had to do!
 
Geez Louise!!!! I never thought I'd see a 230 out of Ms. Trix!! I can't believe the weather you're having!! Must be an absolute nightmare. I hope the power stays on for you!!!
 
Trix seems to like hitting the yellows once a month, just to keep things interesting. Personally, I'm not a fan...it makes me nailbite_smile nailbite_smile ! I was relieved that she didn't food spike off that FF this morning.
