Good Morning, Everyone,

We were lucky in the Hurricane. Just one brief power outage and apparently not much damage. It was nothing like Hurricane Irene up here in the Adirondacks. I wish I could say the same for my city. New York City has devastating damage, especially in the coastal areas of Queens and Brooklyn. Breezy Point in Queens was immolated: 101 houses burned completely down. I don't know how the people who stayed to "ride out" the storm got out of them, since the ocean water was up to the second floors. The damage in the Rockaways is unbelievable. All of lower Manhattan and many areas in the other borough are still without power, and it is not expected to be restored for a few days because the dangers have to be checked out. The subways were heavily damaged by water in the tunnels. It will be a few days before they will be able to repair the damage and pump out the sea water. Just watching the local New York City channel on TV is heartbreaking--utterly depressing. But one thing shines through: the incredible resilience of the New Yorkers. They will need it. They have an uphill road to dig out of this.

Rusty did well in the hurricane: green all day.

I called Roni this morning, but got her message. If I hear from her later, I'll report.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Hey Brave Kitties, that was some party in the storm. We were lucky that we only had wind and rain here. I hope that the Halloween party tomorrow night will have beautiful weather for the midnight lifting of the veil at Camp Stu. See you all then.

Hi guys .. I'm glad to hear you guys did well in the storm with little damage .. It is definitely heartbreaking to see the images and hear the reports of what Sandy caused .. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected ....

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Hi Ella, good hearing from you and all is okay cept for brief outages. Yes, I see on CNN and TWC with the devastation in NYC, unbelievable. Great with Rusty's green numbers.
Mary (Oliver Twist) has some questions on traveling with a kitty. I mentioned your name to her as you are an expert in traveling with Rusty. Have wonderful day.

Rusty, that sure was some storm and thanks for having us all over to your place, Mags

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

I am so glad that you guys had minimal damage, and only one power outage. I know on NYC.... I have been watching the reportings here too. I could not believe the Queens fire. oh my.... and AC! So much is lost there. I agree on your comment on the incredible resilience of the New Yorkers. They interviewed the NJ Governor this AM - it seems to be that way for NJ too. I wish them all luck.

Rusty looks great this AM, and what a good day yesterday. Greens again today Rusty?

Have a great day Ella. I am glad all is OK there.

Rusty! DUDE! You are so right. All our kitty friends were so brave last night. ME TOO on the party tomorrow night - so so looking forward to it. I hope there is SNOW at Camp Stu! OK, let's eat.... Tess has lots of flapjacks for us. YUM! ~ Mannie

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Glad you escaped the ravages of Sandy. Nice start for Rusty. I spoke with Roni this morning. They lost power but otherwise were okay. She is worried about damage to her home. All crossed it's not too bad. My friends and family along the NJ shore are all safe just area is devastated. Power, etc. out, trees down, roofs off but all repairable. Have a great day.

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Glad to hear that all is well there. Still more rain to come though, what about snow? It doesn't appear to have bothered Rusty, what a good boy keeping the Lagoon open all night.

We were glued to the news channels last night too. Praying for everyone in the storm's path.

WAKE UP KITTIES!!! Flapjack are ready and more on the way. The deer family has already eaten and are out and about! Who wants bonito flakes on ther=irs! -- Tess

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Ella I'm glad you are safe and didn't get hit too hard. Good boy Rusty surfing those greens during the storm. I hope Rusty gives you more green today.

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Ella, I'm glad you're safe, and had only a brief power outage. Brownouts can cause damage, when the power goes out halfway, then comes back on. You don't say, so I'm assuming you didn't lose any appliances, etc.

Watching the devastation of Sandy, is unbearable. It feels like I'm watching a made-up, movie.
I'm glad Rusty wasn't bothered by it all.

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Man, those flapjacks were GREAT! Thanks, Tess! The little buck was still in the garden this afternoon, playing it safe by staying in town since deer-hunting season has begun.
It might be too soon for snow at Camp Stu on Halloween, but we'll see. I hope all you kitties got home safely. See you tomorrow night. Who who who hooo!

Hi again, thanks for the news about Roni, Barbara. I tried to call her this morning, but had to leave a message. I hope their house will be OK.

Rusty had a good morning with a nap and some play time with his bell balls. He's chillaxin' in his basket right now.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109

Thinking of you and all of your friends and family that are affected by the hurricane. I have been watching some of the coverage and it is unbelievable. Nice AMPS for Rusty. He isn't scared of no little hurricane, huh big guy? Glad you are safe and warm. Have a nice day Ella!

Re: 10/30 Rusty AMPS 109, +5.5 69, +9 114; news of Roni

Hi again,
I just got off the phone with Roni and they are OK, but worried about their house. They can't reach anyone on their block (elec. and phone lines down, and cell phones don't work there), but have heard that no one is allowed back into the city of Long Beach. As far as they know, their neighbors on the block did not evacuate, but the last they heard was before the storm surge (14 feet storm surge); the neighbors may have decided to evacuate. All utilities and sewage treatment in Long Beach are out. The Long Beach boardwalk is destroyed. They will try to get home tomorrow to survey the damage. If they can't stay in their house, they have friends and relatives in other towns with whom they can stay. Please send Roni, Brad and Moonie your good thoughts, and prayers.

Rusty just had an encounter with the 3 young deer: they stared at him and he stared at them. One of them pawed the ground; Rusty was unfazed!

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for the update on Roni and Moonie and Brad. So good that they are safe but it must be nerve wracking worrying about their house.

Rusty, gots your outfit for tomorrow. We needs to do something special for Moonie! I bet they didn't pack hers up in all the rush! Hmmmmm, I'll work on it. -- Tess

Re: 10/30 Rusty PMPS 126; news of Roni

Good to hear Roni and Moonie are fine... hope she gets to see her house. They might not let them near for a few days.
Tell her if she tells them she needs to get her medication, they will sometimes let you in and out really quickly. It's worked for us
during our fire evacuations.

Rusty looks really good today. Hope he keeps it going!

Re: 10/30 Rusty PMPS 126; news of Roni

So happy to hear that you guys are ok and thanks for update on Roni and Moonie. Things are replaceable (though costly and time consuming); lives are not replaceable. Glad you all are safe. Prayers for the neighbors and all others devastated in the wake of the storm. Love seeing all those greens in Rusty's SS!!! Good job!
