Rec'd email from vet last night, she was off yesterday. She agrees it's usually either UTI or teeth with diabetics. Of course, she was only repeating what I said to start with. But she's supposed to get back with me today on an estimate of the fee to have him in there and then I'll see what, if anything, can be done about payments.

Anyone know if DCIN can help if the vet refuses to work with you as far as payments go?

Re: 10/30 Lucian AMPS 331

Gotta tell ya'll about a conversation I had with my son yesterday, no, it has nothing to do with cats.

While on the phone, he proceeds to tell me that they are going to get a place with a mother-in-law suite, so I can live there, because they don't have time to take care of the house and cook, etc. EXCUSE ME? I said "Oh, so you want my old, decrepit ass to be your maid, cook, laundress, etc.? I don't think so!!" He replies "and nanny!" No they are not preggers yet, but are still trying. I told him if a baby was involved, I'd consider it. He seems to think that room and board should cover it. NOT. He has no idea what a full time housekeeper/cook/nanny would cost. Although I would never charge him that, room and board does not cover it. Grandchild or not. (and I want an apt, not my own bedroom and bathroom  )

We'll have to discuss this, should the time arise.

Re: 10/30 Lucian AMPS 331

Yes they usually can just kinda depends on what they have for funds and how critical it is that the cat gets seen. Never hurts to ask.

Yeah I hope your vet is willing to work with you again. I wish they were more compatible.
And I hope your son wakes up from his delusional dream. Well, at least he wants you around but it should be a mother-in-law suite for the purposes of taking care of you - not the other way around

Still haven't heard from the vet.

And, YES, I do believe my son is delusional.

Geeze woman if you would do all that I would convert my basement into an apartment it even has a separate entrance for you. Well except the cooking I like to cook to much and the laundry already have Jon trained to do that. And don't need a nanny unless it wears fur, has horns and gives milk. lol

Oops that only leaves cleaning and the only place I hate to clean is the basement.

Really want to give him a wake up call research what hiring someone to do all that costs and what studio apartments are renting for and ask for a salary that's the difference. roflmao

Same as +6 and he's having diarrhea. Gonna have to get him to the vet. Wish she'd email me. If I haven't heard from her by morning, I'm calling.

I just sent her another email. She is not an ER vet and if something goes wrong after hours, it will cost a fortune. I really feel he needs to get in there tomorrow. Maybe it's a stomach issue, virus or something. I have nothing for that and pepto is full of sugar. :-x Dammit, I'm about to pull my hair out. Where's the hair pulling smiley??

Got plain yogurt? **** I have 3 boxes of fortiflora and 2 bottles of pepcid as well unfortunately I'm 1500 miles away. sigh

If we were closer I'd play vet for you...got fluids and lines, got miralax, got fortiflora, got pepcid, got petonic etc. Think the medicine cabinet has more animal meds than human ones

This is not looking good. Yes, he got R tonight.

I have pepcid, but that won't help the diarrhea. I bought it for him many months ago, just in case he got upset tummy, which he hasn't. Have Miralax too, but no help there. Meow Meow has to have it every other day or there's a problem. I have diarrhea meds, the pills, but I would have no clue how much to give him or how to get it down him. Have no plain yogurt and doubt he'd go for strawberry/banana. It is artificially sweetened though and fat free. For what that's worth.

I am stressed now. nailbite_smile

edit: I checked the pills, 1 pill for a 48 lb kid, 1/2 pill after that, up to 2 a day....judging by weight, 1/4 pill and 1/8 after?

Poor baby boy. Wish I could think of something else you might have on hand to get you by at least tonight. Might try asking on Health and see if anyone has an idea. I'll try to remember to stick some fortiflora in with the other stuff I'm sending you so you'll have it in the future. Won't do ya a lot of good tonight though.

It's generic Lomotidine, I think it's called. Loperamide Hydrochloride is the ingredient. Is there somewhere that has a list of drugs that cats can't take? Sure would be helpful.

Can't find anything on it one way or the other. Might see if anyone on Health knows if it's safe and at what dosage.

Mel

I'm gonna hold off, since it isn't water consistency yet, although lacks form.

Hope I can get him in tomorrow, still have heard nothing.

Hope you can too. Will be watching his condo for updates. I hate it when they're sick almost as much as when my kids got sick when they were little.

Except for babies, at least kids can tell you what's bothering them.

Finally got an email, she was slammed today and forgot and admitted it. She said she will let me make payments if he needs to come in. She suggested a broad spectrum antibiotic that should clear up whatever it is and if he isn't showing improvement soon, she wants to see him. THAT WORKS FOR ME! Good to know she has no problem with me making payments, too. She's trying to save me money right now and hopefully it will take care of the problem. If it should come back in a few months or if he doesn't improve, he'll have to go, so we can find out exactly what it is.

I can breathe a little easier. I'll call her in the morning to get the script unless Lucian is bad off, then he's going.

One broad spectrum antibiotic you don't want is Amoxicillian tons of sugar in it. See if she will give him clinamyician or baytril those I know are diabetic safe.
