Good Morning LL ~O) ~O) ~O)

We made it through Sandy with minimal damage to the house. Thankfully the sump pump worked all night. Some power on and off, fencing down. Damage to family's homes, no power. Tree down on FIL's house, all ok. We have a NJ shore boat, don't know about it, but don't have high hopes as that area is devastated from a huge storm surge. Power flickered all night at my place, so no ear sticks in the dark! My windows all leaked water down the walls, and water stains on the ceiling. But that happened during Hurricane Irene and the sheetrock doesn't feel soft. Flooding outside but receding. Haven't heard from everyone yet, but Facebook is wonderful for getting status updates. Many many friends without power. NYC devastated. Horrible just horrible. The NJ shore is devastated. So many towns underwater, including at least one friend. But again, no one hurt that I've heard yet.

Look at Leo's wonderful blue surf yesterday!!!!! Leo had a bad time yesterday morning, that I reported on. But as the storm went on, and I cooked chicken noodle soup, he came out and actually hung out with me the whole time. He slept with me the entire night, which surprised me. I soundproofed the bedroom as much as possible with a big blanket over the window. It was nice to have him cuddled next to me.

I hope to hear from all my LL friends on the east coast this morning, and hopefully everyone is okay.

Hi guys .. thanks for the update, so glad to hear there was only minor damage, and no one has been reported hurt that you know of .. It's amazing the destruction Sandy has caused .. the pictures are just devastating, I can't imagine seeing it first hand .. Please stay safe!

Hi Lisa, good to hear from you and Leo. So glad there was minimal damage to your house and the sump pump worked. Yes, it is hard to believe the devastation in NJ, NYC, and watching the reporters get so close, too! So sweet the way Leo cuddled and comforted you. Stay safe. I did not see a Amy & Trixie condo unless I missed it.

I'm so glad you are ok!!! And that your DH and NJ home made it through just fine. And Leo's great blue numbers yesterday!

Your condo scared the you know what out of me. Our son (actually, Mike's son) lives in Chelsea in Manhattan. We were doing facetime and messages all day yesterday and last night. They were fine ...still had power...when we went to bed last night and then when I saw your post about NYC being devastated.... ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ....I had to check on Jason and Michael right away. Thank God they are fine and were out checking out the damage. They said it was a really scary night after they signed off from us but they still have power and they are ok.

Hi Ann - thank you. I looked for Amy's Condo and I didn't see it either. I hope she is ok. So many without power, so likely could be that.

Hi Devon - yes, just horrible horrible, especially seeing places you visit and they're not there anymore. Point Pleasant Beach is essentially gone. We have a small boat down there. No idea if it survived.

Lisa I'm glad you and your family are safe. I hope you hear from the rest of your friends and they are okay too. That's good the sump pump worked and the power didn't go out completely.

I hope Leo is calmer today. That's so sweet he cuddled with you last night.

What a relief that all is OK there. PHEW! Sorry for the sheet-rock problem. I have had that happen before, all was OK with it in long run. hope i is for you too. Glad too that the flood waters are receding. I have been using FB too to check n people. It is nice to see folks updating that they are doing ok.

Leo sure had a great day yesterday. I love those blue surfs: great safe numbers! Sorry for the 4058 this AM, but he is bringing that down well. nice +2! It was very nice that he came and slept with you. Storms like that can be so hard on critters. I am sure he felt safe there.

HI Marje - sorry to freak you out! Devastation means so many thing in so many ways. Sorry about that. There has been no other storm like this in NYC ever, and same for lots of NJ. There is no timetable for when some of these services will be back online, like the subways! I'm glad Jason and Michael are okay. Whew.

Hi Carla - yes we were lucky. Just found out a friend's business was significantly damaged. The roof was blown off and everything inside is drenched. Heart wrenching - he's just opened the company about 2 years ago. Most people do not have flood insurance, and none of this can be claimed. In some extreme cases, people can apply for FEMA relief, but that's not even being discussed yet.

HI Michelle - yes, lots of relief. I am sooooo tired. Just so nervous all of yesterday and up late in the night. I will need to take a nap later.

Hi Ann - yes, Leo is a good boy and will hopefully slide down today.

Mannie - you are the bestest! No hip waders but you'll have to scamper up over some hills and avoid the flooded roads tho! Can't wait for your special special delivery!

Lisa, rain/wind damage is usually covered, damage from rising flood waters is different. If your friend's roof got torn off he should be able to claim for the damage.

Just had to stop in and check on you guys. So glad to hear you are all ok. The news reports are just horrible. The recovery time is just going to be challenging! Sounds like you figured out a great way to spend the evening w/ your furryleo though. Chicken noodle soup and snuggles. Gotta love it. :YMHUG:

Lets hope he surfs blue again and avoids those stinky colors!

Hi Ann - yes, he should be covered. Just devastating. Heart-wrenching to see all that hard work destroyed so quickly.

Hi Karen - thanks for checking in on us - we had a nice blue surfing day, again! Wonderful - we need natural disasters more often. :shock:

We're pretty sure we lost the boat. A friend went down to the shore and his was the ONLY BOAT that survived in his entire marina. The storm surge just lifted all the boats out of the slips and piled them in heaps along the shore. He's a little ways from us. The water lifted train tankers and left one in the middle of the turnpike. People are looting in some towns with no electricity. DH can't even get down there to check. In the towns around us, there are tons of huge trees fallen everywhere. Our traffic light is the only one that works. They are trying to cut down trees on the main roads, but so many streets are just taped off with yellow tape. DH has no power but thankfully no water damage! My heart just goes out to everyone - so many homes destroyed.
 
Oh Lisa! I am so sorry for all that you and your family and friends are going through. Thankfully you have power and minimal damage. My heart goes out to you a thousand times.
 
Lisa, I'm so sorry that the boat is lost. I was just checking back for more news. Sorry, too, DH gas no power. The damage you're describing is what we're seeing on TWC and CNN. I can't imagine those who lost homes, too. Your power there at the apartment is good, I hope and no flickering outages. Vines and prayers for you and DH and family.
 
Lisa, I wrote to you earlier today, I don't know where it went. wonder if I wrote on yesterday's condo.

I am so glad you're safe. I'm glad your sump pumps worked and you have minimal damage.

Stay safe and dry. I hope you get another night of cuddling with Leo.

HI Ann - we are fine. Thank you for the vines - people are fine, property is property. Just its so sad with the memories gone and seeing places we'll never see again. All in the memories now, hope they become sweet.

Glad you are okay. Sorry you lost your boat.
Facebook is really handy for getting more up todate info than the news which lags behind and after a while you realize you are seeing the
same pictures over and over but you keep looking for glimpses of your own area. ( been thru 2 fires now)
Recovery will be slow. It could have been so much worse too.
Hope they get the path cleared for you quickly.

Hope Leo can stay blue.
Enjoy those snuggles...
