Day before Yesterday's Condo
No condo yesterday, just lots of drama! My husband used a product called GREAT STUFF to fill a draft in the wall. It is an expanding spray foam insulation. It went under the wall to the other side, and Charms , who is always searching for contraband, went behind the couch and got into it. He had it on his paws and whiskers and my biggest fear was that he had eaten some. I called the number on the can and they have a vet on call. They gave me instructions for getting it off his paws , but they explained that it expands so I would have to watch him to make sure that if he did ingest it that it did not cause a blockage. That was all I needed to hear! Heart started pounding. Sick, queasy feeling, not Charms , me. I do not handle these situations well. Plus Charms was having a hard time walking because the insulation was stuck on his toes and pads. Took a long time and lots of bribing with food to get Charms paws clean. His BG was higher yesterday and again this morning, maybe because of all the stress. Charms did all his LB requirements and I felt better. Still keeping my eye on him today. He was very vocal this morning, I took him out but he would not scratch his tree, I think his paws are sore. Has been quiet for the rest of the day.
I did not get a chance to answer all the replies to Charms post the day before yesterday. Thank you Wendy, Rhiannon and Julie for all the great info.
Wendy- Charms does have a slight heart murmur. My vet is not concerned about it. Finally talked to him yesterday and he said he did not check Charms T4 free. I thought that was why I brought him back in. Just rechecked the regular thyroid panel at the same lab as last time. He says he will have to send blood to Cornell or Michigan, and he will get back to me about doing it.
Rhiannon and Julie - Because my cats all free feed I cannot be sure exactly how much Charms eats but he is at the dish a lot and the LB is proof of that! He has a great appetite and will eat just about anything. I looked up his weight checks and his rate of losing has slowed down. He is just about 8lbs and probably should weigh at least ten. I will put that in the SS when I get a chance. The link to the diet post had a ton of information. Right now Charms free feeds YACZ but I do use FF Kitten Turkey Feast to give him his shots and test him. I thought that was close to zero carb, but one chart I looked at said it is 5%. Is that true? With all the testing he eats about 2 cans of that throughout the day and evening. I give him boiled chicken too. Wendy has recommened Wellness cans but I am afraid to change anything because he has been getting such good BG numbers. Except for yesterday and today! Hope these higher numbers are stress and bribery. -Sam
