Bailey is in a good mood today - good poops, eating well. Tonite is the vet visit though. Don't know if we will get any answers tonite though since we will have to wait a few days for bloodworm results but I will let you know! I am worried.....

My mum popped in and had a thought on Baileys weight loss appearance without actual weight loss..

I myself realized up until about a week ago he was moulting heavily. Every time I brushed him I was getting a ton of fur. Thats stopped now. I read that the frequently the start of enzymes in an EPI cat allows them to invest nutrients in repairing organs etc before putting weight on. One of the systems they invest nutrients in is a new fur coat and they frequently undergo a moult. His new fur is nice and soft and shiny and smoother.

So my mum proposed that maybe this new smoother silkier fur may makes his bones look more apparent? and would explain the lack of weight loss... a visual thing only?

Vet trip 5.30pm today anyway.

Ok back from the vet. We should get bloodwork results tomorrow but here's what I learned..

- he has lost 3oz. Which I expected as he had lost weight months ago after the last vet visit while we fiddled with correct enzyme dose.. Not a recent loss...
- vet does say he is a little skinny. But also said its hard to get older cats to gain weight as they don't process food as well... And harder still if they are diabetic and with EPI
- he isn't dehydrated.
- Vet checked him over and everything seemed normal.

Suggested a multivitamin might not do any harm assuming his blood potassium and calcium comes back normal. Vet seemed to think I was imagining things too but was more than happy to run bloodwork.

Good news so far!

He sure looks happy and healthy in recent photos. Maybe you are just expecting too much, especially side by side with *monster* Tiggs. Hopefully the boodwork is good.

Perhaps you can yet find some way to help him put on some weight. Where there is a will, *sometimes* there is a way. :smile: :smile:
