Such relief, LT ate the Friskies Salmon mixed with some Ocean Whitefish. He barely left any in the bowl:). I'm going to get some different flavors to keep in the cabinet, though it seems he's over with whatever was bothering him yesterday (at least until next time).

Because of the food strike yesterday, I didn't leave any food in the auto-feeder last night. But I'll start his +8 snack today along with doing auto-feeder eating 101 today.
 
LT is looking good today! Glad to hear the eating strike is over :) I really do think that everyone has days when the food just doesn't sing to them... 'meh'....I'm not eating that... I hope you enjoy your day!

I'm buying his some different foods tomorrow, but I think you are right. If he doesn't feel like eating, filet mignon might not be appealing to LT.
 
I did some "training" with LT on the auto-feeder and he cracked me up:smuggrin:. First I put tuna niblets in the open portion and then put more tuna in 3 more sections and set them just a few minutes apart. I think he knows when he hears the "whir" food appears. He sat there pawing at it and when it moved he practically jumped inside it. Now if he'll just wake up in the night for his +8 LC treat.

He will learn. Ollie wouldn't have anything to do with it if I put wet food in. But I put the treats in, she had it down in a few seconds.

Isn't it fun to watch him learn! It won't be long before he will be a pro. It was so fun to watch Tina stand next to the feeder right before it opened. Looked like she could read a clock.
So far she hasn't missed a meal out of it, and I just use it when I'm away.
 
I had to switch food all around again tonight and had to put tuna in it to get him to finish it. Since this is a new problem, I have a question. He only gets one drop, how much does he have to eat in order to get his 1 drop?
 
He doesn’t have to eat it all now. Do you think you can get him to eat in the next few hours?

He probably ate about 80% of it in 20 minutes. He finished the rest of it at about + 1.5. I gave him his shot a little after he started eating well the first time. If they don't eat or only eat a partial meal, how much do you give? I just want to be prepared in case he fiddles around again tomorrow a.m.
 
If Neko was off her food, I tried to get at least 2/3 of her food in her with a full dose. That was in the days when her dose mostly measured under the zero line on by BDs.

Was it ok for him to eat the last bit later? I've pretty much had him on a 12/12 feeding schedule so he hasn't had food (except for some PureBites or boiled chicken) in between. Also, I have some oral feeding syringes on order, but they won't be here for a few days. I suppose I could pick one up at the vet's tomorrow when I go through town. He's not sick because he has lots of energy and still playing a lot. When does one syringe feed (I don't think we are there, but I want to be prepared)?
 
Neko only got about 1/3 - 1/2 of her meal at shot time, the rest spread throughout the day. More and smaller meals are easier on a healing pancreas. Not that Neko’s pancreas had a problem, it was her pituitary tumour causing the diabetes, but I started several meals before I knew that, and she like the idea.:cat:

I sometimes syringe fed just a bit. A bit of food in got her eating again. Sometimes she wouldn’t eat more than a quarter of her food, so I would syringe to get more calories in.

Thanks Wendy, I appreciate you helping me better understand what to do when he gets fussy about his food. I'm hoping that he was just bored with his old food and that I can add different flavors into the mix. I'll use the syringe if he absolutely refuses. I hope you have a quiet night.
