Hi Everyone,

Hurricane Sandy- related activity this morning: running around getting "prepared". All is well here. Rusty is fine and has a green AMPS!!

Roni called us yesterday to say they were evacuating to a motel in Commack (middle of Long Island). Good thing, since the surf on the beaches is amazing. They are expecting a storm surge of 10-11 feet in the NYC area (Hurricane Irene last year, causing so much damage, was only 4 feet).

We don't know yet how the storm will affect us. Irene did so much damage that we are all fearful, since this is a "tripple" event: the hurricane, the mid west storm, and a Canadian high cold air mass all colliding. I was able to postpone my dermatological procedure in Burlington VT that was supposed to be tomorrow. They are expecting 70 mph winds on Lake Champlain, and I would have had to cross it on a ferry! (They will probably cancel ferry service later).

Gotta go now. Stay safe, everyone in the path of the storm. Rusty says, anyone who wants to brave the storm can come and stay overnight in the barn after the Full Moon Party(!!!)

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97

Yay Rusty!!
Nice green start. ( I'm green with envy!)
Hope he has a nice green surf all day!

Glad to hear some more news on Roni/Moonie. Hope that is truly some higher ground, thought she would get further inland.
Sounds like a good plan to cancel appointments, wouldn't want to get out and unable to get back home.

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97

Thanks for the message from Roni. We are worried about families affected by this monster storm! Saw those huge tidal waves on TV, so scary, reminded me of the sunami...
You stay safe Ella. It must be very windy outside the house.
Rusty safe surfing on the green!

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97

Ella, Rusty and DH, thinking of you all and sending stay safe vines and prayers. Thanks for updating us on Roni and so glad she evacuated, as she lived close to the ocean.
Rusty, see ya later, Mags

Ella - you guys stay safe. Yes, the surge has well passed Irene and also just below Donna from 1960's. This triple threat is scary. And in all this Rusty gives some great numbers! Go Rusty Go!

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97, +5.5 87

I've heard about that storm being a "perfect storm" I hope you, Edward and Rusty stay safe and dry. Will Roni be updating you again today?

Very nice numbers today for Rusty, keep up the good work buddy

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97, +5.5 87

NICE!!!  Rusty and Tess are busy getting the Lagoon ready for visitors after the party! Thanks on the update on Roni, I checked and where they are is 171 feet elevation so safe, but the power is probably out. Their house is in a 10' storm surge area though. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile I hope it diminishes by Wed, you are right in the path then. I think the kitties will need to party inside for Halloween.

Rusty, we are in the Lagoon again. Since I'm early I'll help finish the party prep! Howl at the Moon tonight! Oh, and lots of huntig mousies too. I love the you catch it , we'll grill it idea! -- Tess

Thanks so much for letting us know about Roni and Moonie. I just saw pictures of Long Beach on the news and it looks very scary! I'm so glad they have evacuated.

Stay safe!!

Re: 10/29 Rusty AMPS 97, +5.5 87, +9 74, PMPS 89

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking up on us. We have some rain and the wind is beginning to pick up, but the brunt of the storm won't hit us until late tonight and early tomorrow. We are expecting high winds and hope we won't lose trees. Rusty is fine. But he knows we're having a storm (the barometric pressure is very low) and is sticking close to his beans. He is surfing green all day!! Go figure!

I haven't been on the board since this morning. I've been glued to the NYC channel on Time Warner Cable. Incredible pictures of the flooding and the beaches, and a crane that broke and is hanging at the 92nd floor of a new building going up on 57th St. in Manhattan. OMG, what a catastrophe if it should break loose! People in the neighboring buildings have been evacuated. Some lunatics on Fire Island (a barrier island in Suffolk County) had to be rescued after they initially declined to evacuate.

I just talked to Roni. They are fine in the motel in Commack. They lost power briefly a couple of times, but otherwise are warm and comfortable. Roni says she hasn't had so much sleep in months! Moonie is fine and is over her diahrrea (sp?). Her numbers are all blues today. Roni says to say hi to everyone and to thank you for your concern. She has been in touch with her neighbor and her street is OK so far. All the neighbors decided to stay in their houses (but Roni's house is all on one level, so she's glad they decided to evacuate). They'll probably be home on Wednesday.

All for now. Rusty is over in the barn, and the kitties will be arriving soon (traveling on a moonbeam and a blast of wind). They will all be staying over, so don't worry about them. Might as well have an all-night Full Hunters' Moon party when a big storm huffs and puffs outside. Great pic, Ann!!

Hugs to you all,

Ella & Rusty

Glad to hear the update and that so far all is well. This is apparently the lowest barometric pressure for a storm to hit the coast, ever. Which apparently means it can be a lot worse than otherwise. I've been watching the weather channel a lot today too. Good job Rusty on the surf! At least that's one stress off you.

I bet the kitties are all excited for a sleepover! Leo has his green fleece, his travel manner and a bag of furs and tuna toddie mixer. He's taking a quick nap now to gather his energy!

Thanks for the updates! And woo hoo on the green suit for Rusty's all nighter full moon party. I wonder what the big winds will do to the veil at the party? Zener just blew out of here on a gust of wind, heading east. fll_moon

Thanks for the update. I'm so glad Roni, moonie and Dh are warm and safe. Paws crossed on their house.

Stay warm and safe!

Rusty! The barn is perfect! And ohhhhh, that wood stove feels good! I can't wait to go out and watch for the veil to this so we can see our GA friends. I hope we get a glimpse of the Moon to howl at! -- Tess

Hi Ella - so sorry for the late post... no clue where my day went. Thanks for the update. I hope all will be well in your area. Stay safe!!!!

It is so great to see Rusty green - what a great day for him.

Great to see Rusty in green!!

I also hope you don't experience what you did with Irene. I saw the crane!! Jason is battened down in Chelsea in Manhattan....he's been sending me messages all day.

Thanks for letting us know Roni, Brad, and Moonie are safe :-D :-D
