Thanks Wendy, Pam and Mariko for the visits last night. Papaya did a bit of a bounce but it's gone by this morning and we have nice blue again, not dropping too dramatically so far.
As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to try leaving food nearby between AMPS at 4:30 AM (ugh!) and when I get up for work at 7:30 to see if Papaya would eat it on her own and save me having to get up in between at 6:00 AM to feed her another portion. This is how it went this morning:
4:30 Papaya cleans plate, gets shot
4:32 I put down another portion of food on the shelf adjoining the bed and turn out the light
4:33 Papaya decides dessert has been served, andplods stomps plomps her way over to the food to polish it off as well
4:35 - 4:45 Papaya celebrates all that deliciousness by loudly slurping clean every inch of fur she owns . . . twice

So yeah that was kind of a fail. I think two things were working against me, though - she was unusually hungry (usually she will just politely leave a tiny bit of food still on the plate. I used to have a grandmother who did that, too!) but today she licked it clean for the first breakfast. Also, she usually gets chicken flavour but I had just opened a can of a fishy flavour, so I guess it was extra tempting to eat it all at once! Since she had eaten so much, though, I just slept through to 7:30 and happily the lack of a middle meal doesn't seem to have resulted in a dive. I'm going to keep trying this for a while and see how it goes!
