Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing fine.

Max is eating and drinking. He went outside for a bit. I tested him and was relieved to find he is still OTJ.

Max's tumor has reduced in size; I am sure of it. I think it had a fair amount of fluid in it, and that fluid must have leaked out after the aspiration. He doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects from this. Apparently, some tumors have digestive enzymes in them, and if they leak it can be detrimental for those enzymes to get into the cavity. Some have hormones in them that will absorb into the bloodstream and cause blood pressure problems. So far, so good.

My vet doesn't come back to work until tomorrow. I'm worried that Max will have suffered from metabolic acidosis too long if he in fact has it. However, the vet said that his office has the gas chromography machine to do the test, but does not have the cartridges. I'm not sure if I should be proactive about thils or if I should sit tight until tomorrow. Metabolic acidosis can be life threatening just like ketoacidosis. However, Max has not thrown up yet. I suppose if he does we can go to the vet then or go to ER.

My thoughts are with everyone on the Eastern Seaboard and their babies, both furbabies and otherwise!

Sooo glad for your good update Dale :YMHUG: I know nothing about metabolic k, just hoping it turns out not to be in his case. cat_pet_icon Hugs to you guys from us cat_pet_icon

Dale, Glad Max is still OTJ  , and going in a positive direction with reduced tumor. Hope you get more positive news tomorrow, hugs :YMHUG: and positive vines.

I'm glad Max is doing okay this morning and still OTJ. I'm praying for you and Max. I hope you get some good news from the vet.

My first thought was can you be proactive and hunt down the "cartridge" for them or are they shipped and on the way.
Sorry you are having to wait another day... I know that's frustrating.

Wish they made some kind of test strip ( like the ketostix) for acidity... maybe they do.
I have tests strips for the yard.... so you would think they would make them for bodily functions. (Just a wayward random dumb thought of mine)

At least this day is halfway done.
Paws crossed that your vet gets right to you first thing tomorrow. Chop Chop!!

Nice to see Max in nice grees today. What symptoms other than the muscle wasting have you seen? If you are concerned would your vet object to starting the=http://www.felinecrf.org/metabolic_acidosis.htm bicarbonate syringing suggested on Tanya's site, or would that mess up future tests when they can be done?

Hi Dale, thinking of you and Max. I'm glad Max is doing the normal things and appy good. Nice green OTJ number, too!
If you think the results are in today, is there another Vet in the Clinic besides your regular Vet that you could call. Or do you feel more comfortable waiting for your Vet tomorrow? Lots of hugs to you and vines and scritchies to Max.

Hello, everyone, I did call the clinic today. I left a message for my vet, and I asked the person who answered the phone if the test results were in. She said she didn't see anything in the computer about the results. I'm sure I'll get a call tomorrow.

Max was home all day alone. We went to grandma's. When we got home Max came around looking for fresh food. We are trying to figure out how much he is eating, but with both of us feeding him and all that's going on we aren't sure. DH let him go outside in the dark. He must feel ok if he wants to do that. I don't like it, but I know he's been cooped up all day, and he LOVES to be out there.

He looks so skinny. I didn't see any poop in the cat box :? I'm afraid of where we might find it.

Hope you all are well.
