WCR: All P's Present

Good Morning Everyone ~O)

A cool beautiful day here in East Tennessee. Good sleep. Mostly yellow #'s, and Gandolf seems comfortable.
He is definitely gaining weight. Really don't want him going up any more so am focusing on food again. We're going for three 5.5 oz cans a day, spaced each 3 hours and see how that goes. (if that's proves to be too much or too little we'll adjust). The food management now is to mange his body weight, plus it should work well for his BG too. No more free feeding right now. There are going to be times when there is no food out. A change. Also, I will watch his BG, because that will indicate, perhaps, whether he really is doing a "dance" or just begging. I'm soft. I give it to him...but he's gaining weight. Gotta say "no".

Welcome to the "newbies", Yay!...you've struck gold. You are in the right place.
Gandolf sends his " good kitty-vibes" (vines) to all his buddies in this dance. Go for the Gold!...uh..Green!" :-D

See you all later.

Three 5.5oz cans per day for just Gandolf? Is he part mountain lion?

Dr. Lisa's webpage suggests that a 12 lb cat should be getting about 233 calories per day and she notes that this is a generous calorie count. (Required calories per day = [13.6 X optimal lean body weight in pounds] + 70). A 5.5oz can of Wellness Beef & Chicken is 193 cal. and Merrick Cowboy Cookout is 154 cal. If you're feeding 3 cans of food that fall anywhere close to these calorie counts, you're feeding between 462 - 579 cal. per day. Even if Gandolf's optimal lean body weight was 20 lbs, his calories would be 342 per day according to Dr. Lisa's formula. There's gonna be more of Gandolf to love at this rate!
