Hello LL!!

Yesterday: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=127614

Billie is doing well so far today. She had a closer to normal poo this morning, so that's very cool. I was so excited when I saw it in the litter box  I guess her system is working its way back to normal after the Veraflox. She is still doing the head shaking/ear itching although I am already noticing improvement compared to yesterday. Thank you everyone who stopped by last night/this morning to chime in about Zymox! I really appreciate the input!

Question: For kitties who have been on Zymox without the steroid in it, did you find that it was effective? I did a search through old condos and found a couple people who said that they didn't think the steroid free drops were making a difference. I didn't recognize their names so I don't think they are regular posters anymore. I am thinking about ordering the steroid free kind off Amazon with one day shipping and switching to it, but I am wondering if it will be effective. I'm also wondering if other kitties have done well on the Zymox with hydrocortisone. From what I have read so far, it sounds like it is milder than Tresaderm and some of the others in terms of the steroid.

I'm thinking about bumping her dose up to 2u because we have not seen green at 1.75. But, I may hold off for a day because I will need to test more, and right now, testing is tricky because she doesn't like me touching her ears. Poking was very tricky this morning. She kept shaking her head right after I poked and shaking the blood off, so it took three tries to get her reading. Then, she walked away with her ears flat and she looked upset. Sorry Billie! I got her drops in fairly well, at least.

I hope everyone is having a nice day! Sending vines to all the cats and beans needing vines.

Re: 10/29 Billie AMPS 235 +4 198 Zymox drops?

I can't give dosing advice but I think if it were my decision I would give her a little more time to feel better and see if that lowers her BG. Since it is her ears you are dealing with it seems like it would be hard to test more as you say. I know Max is getting fed up with all my testing and making it hard to test by folding his ears. Let's see what the experts say on the subject. I hope she continues to feel better and that causes better BG numbers as well.

Re: 10/29 Billie AMPS 235 +4 198 Zymox drops?

Furball gets chronic ear infections. The first couple of times I gave her the Zymox without steroid in it, it worked. The last time it didn't. I think I didn't catch the last ear infection soon enough for it to work.

Thanks Elise and Carla!!

Elise, I think your instinct is right about giving her a bit more time. I would not want to be in a poke carb poke carb situation with her ears bothering her. I think it would upset her, and she is already pretty upset with me from the AB course, the vet visit, and the usual bothering. I will probably wait a day or two and see what happens unless her numbers shoot up.

Carla, that is very good to know - thank you for stopping back! I'm sorry that Furball gets chronic ear infections. I'm sure that is a bummer for both of you. I think I will try the Zymox without the steroid. If I order it tomorrow, I can get it on Friday and finish out the 7-10 days that way. It sounds like we caught whatever is brewing early, so hopefully it will clear up.

Off topic but awesome...CVS is having a major Halloween candy sale!! $1.88 for bags of Milky Ways, Kit Kats, Reeses...all the good stuff that usually costs $5 a bag :-D I figure that could be good news to anyone with a CVS nearby, especially if anyone is having a PJ party tonight. I just stopped in to fulfill a candy craving and was pleasantly surprised to find the sale.
