it's been such a long time since i've posted an alex report! she's had her ups and downs... allergies and CP flares... have had to adjust her levemir dose accordingly, but overall doing very well. she's pretty much in green most of the time when she's feeling well. all P's presently accounted for... plus one... "pissy". :lol:

animal planet makes this inexpensive pet bed that all the furries in my home LOVE: http://tinyurl.com/3tycj9m. they love it so much that i decided to to get one for each of them. they came yesterday. of course alex was the first one to claim one of the new pet beds. poor cadwyk tried to get on the pillow and alex wouldn't have any of it. she hissed and growled to let him know in no uncertain terms that he was to find his own! she wasn't about to share!

not much else new here. alex has already enjoyed 2 trips to the Falls, but i'm not expecting her to be able to manage without insulin again... so we just keep chugging along.

Awesome numbers for Alex.

Thanks for the tip on the kitty bed. Might need to invest in one or two (my kitties don't share either). How large is it?

Just an FYI to the other beans reading Jill's post today. She's got some great information on her ss regarding low carb and low phosphorus foods. And then some values when combining the different foods. It's a nice little resource. Thanks Jill!

I too appreciate the added info on your SS - it is such a great help to so many of us.

they're 28" x 34" --- plenty big for even my largest cat.

fyi: i've hidden the "combo meal" sheet until i have time to refigure the values. ann/tess called merrick to get the as fed values of the before grain 96% turkey. evidently the food list i got the phos info from was incorrect. hoping to have time to redo it this weekend...

Looking forward to seeing the new values on your SS. It is wonderful that Alex is doing so well. That AMPS is a great number! Thanks for the link to the pet beds. I have a friend who makes similar pillow beds, using scraps of material left over from her quilting for the stuffing. I'll have to suggest to her that she use fleece for the cover. In the meantime, I think I'll order one of the ones in your link.

(the beds, not the kitties...they're on permanent markdown, but no takers) :lol:
I'm amazed that even though they have all claimed one for their own, DAILY they check the other beds to make sure
nobody is getting anything extra... :YMSIGH: :-D

happy to see an Alex condo...
and glad she is still queen of the household!

now my kitties are looking at me :shock: pathetic and shocked - they don't even have beds. they borrow all of our furniture, but you're making me think about that large piece of fleece someone passed on to me. perhaps i'll make beds for the kitters today and see if they like them.

Wow, an Alex condo, thanks so much. We use the food charts often and have paws crossed for the day Zener will eat some of them! :lol:

ack... so alex went up a little higher @ +6 than i like to see, but still within "normal". her nadir isn't usually until around +12 so there's plenty of time for her to come down before pm shot time. i watch for upwards trends because they often give me a heads up that a CP flare is coming on. BG meters will often tip us off as to the possibility something else is going on inside the body.

all kitties present and accounted for... basking in the sun rays.

Thanks for the info on the beds. I looked at it....looks comfy but I wonder if Gracie/Tobey would use it....we have a big comfy dog bed that Gus (and GA Teddi) loves but the kittens never
get on it!

I sent you an email with the Merrick BG as feds for all their canned cat foods. I just got it from them. Hope it helps.

so, 96 @+10... not going in the right direction. :lol:
makes me wonder if it was a good shot. i've noticed alex is really building up scar tissue in the areas i'm shooting despite being careful to change injection sites. she's not easy to shoot in any spots besides the scruff and shoulder areas. hopefully, she'll drop more before PMPS. i'll have to be more careful tonight!

marje... thanks for the email! i kow what you mean about kitty beds. these are the first we've had that the kitties have taken to immediately.

celi... alex remains the queen of the household despite many attempts from darius to de-throne her!

julie... these pillows would be easy to make. i think the big attraction is they're soooooooo soft and squishy!

ella... hope rusty enjoys his new pillow as much as my kitties do!

michelle... there's nothing wrong with chuggin' along. our kitties have to feel a whole lot better because of our persistence. mannie is doing so well because of YOU!

Now THIS is a great idea. So true that we can't always be the one to take care of our kitties.

I hope that tonight's shot will bring Alex back to where she should be. She's not far from it...
Maybe she was dreaming of doughnuts or something and it raised her BG a little. :lol:

i had to start writing things down. before i went in for surgery early this year i sat down with dh to go over everything. his eyes began to glaze over and i knew i was in trouble! :lol:

he feels more confident since i've been recording foods, meds, supplements, and remedies all in one place... and that makes me feel better.

I've done that, too, with Mike. I have it all in a folder on the hard drive and on the backup drive. Now I just have to hope he remembers that's where it is :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

yes! alex came down to 76 at +11.5! i shot her early to get back on schedule.

when you have a late nadir cat you have to learn to shoot low.
btw, alex is carb sensitive. i can count on her numbers to rise after feeding and before her usual levemir onset at +4. in other words, her numbers will rise before they start coming back down again. if i stalled... waiting for a higher preshot number... i would blow an opportunity to keep her numbers as flat as possible.

it's so cool to see a condo for Alex, and especially an educational one. :smile: I'm glad she is plugging along and enjoying her status in the home.

Those beds look big enough for J.D., who doesn't seem to fit into cat sized beds :roll: .

Those are some beautiful numbers!
Reading this and the Jettas condo was very educational. It is so great to be able to mine experience and knowledge and try to apply it to our own kitties. It helps to ease some of the anxiety and/or panic. :roll: Thank you for sharing.
