Yesterday was a full colour rainbow day followed by a yellow night.

10/27 Recap:

PMPS 226 +4 274

This morning news - Neko ate a bird! :o  She was sitting on the back porch washing her paws after breffs #1, when a varied thrush hit our front living room window (right below the outline of a hawk I have there). Neko raced down the steps and over to the ground below the window, pounced on the bird (already dead), and triumphantly brought it back to the solarium. She started to eat it! She has never eaten her catch before. I guess that is FD/polyphagia and the raw diet that has changed all that. I went into the solarium to try to remove the bird, and Neko told me that I'd better back off if I valued my fingers. She was so possessive!!! So Theo and I went back into the kitchen and let her have her snack. Yuck! After Neko had finished off most of the meat (not the tail, wings, back or head), she came inside and promptly went to her autofeeder to wait for breffs #2. What a pig! Needless to say, Neko is feeling very happy and pleased with herself this morning.

I am planning on visiting my parents on the island today to work on cleanup of the big garden. Depending on the +3 numbers (and what the bird does to the BG), DH may stay home to monitor. Neko will NOT be getting a chicken neck for her +9.5 snack today - she's had enough bones for the day.

Re: 10/28 Neko AMPS 207 - ate a bird!

I don't think the bird should affect her BGs. At least it's death wasn't wasted. Poor birdy.
I had one hit my window once, you could see the little head feathers stuck to the window, but I never found the body. Makes me wonder, now.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday. I know Neko enjoyed his snack.

Oh. that poor bird might make it into the Darwin awards if it were human -- hit the window below the outline of a hawk? Maybe the thrush was defending her nest, and it wasn't so illogical after all. Poor birdy, but, nope, not wasted! Good for Neko!

Re: 10/28 Neko AMPS 207 - ate a bird!

Woohoo, Neko! You are a mighty huntress! :-D :-D Your description of her possessiveness cracks me up.  Enjoy your day on the island.

HAHA! Good for Neko! BONUS! Buster has caught a couple of doves over the years. He always leaves the head and feet in a pile of feathers. Pretty gross, but I that's what they do!

Oh wow on the bird. I bet Neko was very happy with that snack. Yuck! I hope Neko comes back down for you. I wonder if the bird made her go up.

Did you feel the earthquake last night? I thought about you when I heard where it was.

Re: 10/28 Neko AMPS 207 - ate a bird! +3 408

After that +3, I decided we could use a pokie break and DH and I went over to the island to see my parents. I spent a couple of productive hours getting part of the raspberries ready for winter. We had about 5 deer watching us, and they were very appreciative of the fresh raspberry tips and leaves and other stuff I dumped in the compost pile. What did Neko do? Who knows. WIth that +3 she wasn't going low and I'm actually giving her a break until PS. She went outside briefly went we went home, then some neighbourhood  let off a firecracker. She is now in for the night and parked under the bed. The next few days I'm going to limit her time out until the seasonal crazy noise winds down.

@Dyana - besides cats, skunks are also great at cleaning up dead birds in the yard. The only reason I thought the bird might have a small influence on BG's is that is was eating the berries from our arelia tree. It has small berries that I think get fermented. Every year when the berries are out we get a bunch of drunken birds crashing into things around here. I could tell from the stains on Neko that the bird had been at the tree.

@Dale - I think young varied thrush are the stupidest birds around when it comes to windows. The majority of bird hits we get are from them. The hawk outline doesn't seem to help. This time of year I put streamers on the outside of the solarium and that seems to help those windows at bit.

@Liz - It was a great day on the island. It was nice to see the sun and Neko hasn't given me many sunny day passes lately. She was seriously growling and moved the bird away from me when I went into the solarium. What a lioness!

@Tara - Neko has never (to my knowledge) eaten a bird before. She has just played with them and left them. FD has changed her. She was having problems trying to figure out how to get through the feathers.

@Carla - Neko got rewarded with a pokie break. I'll know in a couple of hours how she did. But she usually goes up the second cycle after greens so it could have been that. We didn't feel the earthquake and didn't even know about it until my parents asked if we'd felt it.

   oh wow! a bird! now Mannie just watches then fly around, use the feeder, and has never ever tried to catch one... Now Elsa on the other had....

I hope you had a good time on the island - that sounds great. and to have deer audience - very nice! how kind of Neko to give you a permission slip. :-D :-D

bummer on that firecracker... Mannie isn't much of a fan either.

Enjoy your evening.

Just checking in to see how you and the fur family were doing after last nights quake. Did you feel it at all?

Good job on the bird catch Neko! (even if it was knocked out/dead when you grabbed it) Leo is so proud of you! :-D

PMPS 197
Totally not expecting that! I guess I should have tested when we got home. Nice sliding from that red +3 this morning. She wasn't acting super hungry so I knew she had come down a bit. But there is hungry and HUNGRY! I just looked in the kitchen, her butt is sticking out of the kitchen sink with the front paws down inside, trying to see if there are any goodies there. Sigh.

The deer at my parent's place are very friendly and always come out this time of year if you go anywhere near the apple trees. :-D

@Michelle - Neko has decided to jam with the BMG tonight. It's an unexpected impromptu appearance. The deer are friendly, sometimes my parents have names for them.

@Tracy - I didn't feel the quake at all, or even know about it until much later. I've been to Haida Gwaii and they are on all sorts of fault lines. Beautiful place, I hope they are all OK. Neko better not start going after birdies like Leo does mousies!

Wow this girl can turn herself around! I can't believe she ate the bird! Gracie and Tobey are constantly fixated on the birds but I'm not sure what they would do if they ever had the opportunity ...which they don't.

Your day sounds lovely...gorgeous deer!

Wow - didn't think she'd go down this fast.

@Marje - Neko seems to be great at turning it around. Another rainbow day! I think I'm joining your sleep/test party.
